AlphaBetty Saga guide for the beginner
1. Betty is a young mouse in the 1930s and we are going to follow her, her
grandfather Professor Alpha and his loyal assistant, Barney, on a rip-
roaring adventure of epic proportions! They set off in search of never
before seen words, racing around a world very like your own, except for
one small detail. It is a world inhabited by mice and much of it is made
from cheese! As the adventure unfolds, you will recognize many famous
landmarks, only redesigned as they would appear in a mouse world in
the 1930s.
A Guide For The Beginner
2. This is a unique puzzle game where you can create words at least three letters long. It is very similar to
Scrabble, but instead of adding tiles on the board to form a word, this game gives you the letters and you
just have to create the words. It has the same concept as Search a Word because words can be created
in any direction, forwards, backwards, vertically and horizontally. Each level has a different goal, from
simply earning a large number of points to clearing tiles trapped in bubbles.

3. The Boosters
Shuffle Booster - allows to shuffle most of tiles on the board, but not the blockers.
Line Blaster - One line blaster can be placed anywhere and set to the desired direction. It is activated by using it in a word
on subsequent turns. There are 3 types of Line Blasters.
Two way: Generated by 5-letter words
Four way: Generated by 6-letter words
Eight way: Generated by words of 7 letters or more
Hammer - Can destroy any tile.
Crown - You need to create a 4-letter word to produce a Crown. Once a Crown is generated, it will land on
a random letter on the game board. You can also purchase them with gold bars.
Extra moves - available when there are only 5 moves left. Gives 5 additional moves. Can be
purchased with gold bars.
Crown Canon – can be used when you create words longer than 5 letters. Purchased with gold bars.
4. Tile type
Blank tile - wildcard tile which can be used in place of any letter, the program will accept it if the blank can
be used to create any valid word with the other letters being played. Like other tiles, if the word ends on
the blank tile, the blank (wildcard) will be kept as the value of the blaster created.
Normal tile - just regular tiles
Silver (Pale Blue) tile - value of the letter is doubled. Golden tile - value of the word is doubled.
Blue bubble tile - when the tile is destructed, the bubble explodes and is replaced by a normal tile,
bubbles do not move or fall with the letters.
Pink bubble tile - effectively 2 bubbles on the same tile, so when the tile is destructed, the bubble explodes
and is replaced by a blue bubble.
Spread cheese tile - cheese is spread under the tile. Cheese spreads by using the tile in a word or
blasting the tile with a line blaster that has cheese spread.
5. Crown tile - When the tile is used, the effect depends of the level type.
Score : one random tile is destroyed
Bubble pop : one tile with a bubble is destroyed randomly.
Cheese falls : one tile under a cheese chunk is destroyed randomly (if the random tile has an entangler or a
mousetrap blocker, only the blocker will be destroyed).
Word frenzy : the letter counts double (example: a 4-letter word containing one crown is scored as a 5-letter
word). If a word with a blaster is played and a blaster destroys a crown the letter count is also incremented.
Growth mode : cheese spreads over an adjacent square to already spreed cheese or if no adjacent square is
available cheese begins spreading in another isolated part of the board.
Cheesy plate : removes a blocker such as a layer of stone block, a crown magnet, etc. and once all are gone then
the next cheesy plate in sequential order will be removed.
In games with stones, a single stone level may be removed when the tile with crown is played.

Line blaster tile - destroys tile (possibly removes blockers) in the directions of the arrows shown on the tile.
Arrows can be 2-way, 4-way, or 8-way depending on the number of letters used to create it.
6. The Blockers
Entangler - the tile is blocked and it will not fall so the cheese can not be spread on it. An advantage of
the entangler is when it appears on highly useful letters the letter will remain for one more move.
Mousetrap – moves randomly on one of the adjacent squares each turn so the tile cannot be used.
If the tile is destroyed by a crown or line blaster, the trap disappears.
Move Stealer - If the bomb is not destroyed by playing the letter or blasting before
the end of the countdown in the bottom right, two moves will be lost.
Stone block - has up to 5 different hardness levels. Play tiles adjacent to it to reduce the gradual
hardness. Blasters can also remove a rock level.
Codex – is often called a book. It opens or closes with every move. It can not be used or blasted while
closed. If played or blasted while open the codex is removed from the board and replace by an ordinary
tile. Hammers can destroy closed Codexes. They act like normal letters while they are open.
7. Crown magnets - can also be used to your advantage by retaining crowns until later in the game when they
are more likely to be effective. Crowns cannot be obtained from crown magnets, if they are destroyed, when
the level is completed causing the crown remain on the place the crown magnet was formerly located.
Artefacts – you can collect these by earning stars. It is not a blocker, but a helper. They all
have different powers to help you in the game. The Artefacts (or mouse helpers) can be
found in the Library. There you can see Artefacts associated with each adventure and their
abilities. They may give bonus scores as well as extra moves or crowns, or remove blockers.
Exclamator - this tile can only be used at the end of a word (e.g. 'H O U S E S!' is allowed, but not 'H O U S! E S’).
8. The library displays the artifacts (or mouse helpers) and will allow you to promote them as you win more cheese stars. You can see
artifacts associated with each adventure and their abilities to help the player. Artifacts may give bonus scores as well as extra
moves or crowns, or remove blockers. Many blockers are only effective for certain level types or if certain blockers are present on
the current level. You can choose your artifact before clicking on the play button. They will become more powerful as you win
stars from the adventure associated with that artifact. Many people have asked, "What is the best artifact helper to use?" When in
doubt, take the extra move mouse if available for the current level.
9. At the beginning of each level you will be asked to complete a challenge to win the level.
What are the different challenges
http://alphabettysaga.wikia.com/wiki/AlphaBetty_Saga_Wiki
Below are some of the challenges you'll
encounter.
• Scoring Mode
• Cheese Falls Mode
• Bubble Pop Mode
• Word Mode
• Growth Mode
10. Link letters together to create words and gain
points. The longer the word, the higher the
score. Look out for gold and silver tiles, or tiles
that have Crowns on them, as these special tiles
carry extra points. Reach the target score to
pass the level. This challenge is pretty common.
Just try to get as many points as you can by
creating long words. Using the crowns and Line
Blaster is a good extra in this mode. Try to get
the target score and you’ll advance to the next
level.
Scoring
11. In this mode the cheese tiles are the obstacles. You
have to bring down the cheese chunks from the
top of the board by destroying the tiles beneath
them. Try to create words of 5 letters or more to
get vertical line blasters above or below the cheese
chunks and be cautious about recreating new line
blasters under the cheese as it will prevent the
cheese from falling to the bottom since the last
letter will not disappear, requiring at least one
more move to drop the cheese.
If no useful line blaster can be created, make 4-
letter words to create crowns to use later to
eliminate the tiles under a cheese.
Cheese Falls
12. Bubble Pop
The goal is to pop all the bubbles, some need to be
destroyed several times (if they are pink bubbles or have an
entangler). Bubbles do not move or fall with the letters. If
the box has an entangler, it must be destroyed before the
bubble can be popped. The line blasters can pop entire
lines of bubbles. There are two types of bubbles. When
using the blue bubbles tile, the bubble pops and leaves a
normal tile. With the pink bubbles, the bubble pops and
leaves a blue bubble. At the end of the game, if the bubbles
are distant from each other, try to create 4-letter words to
get crowns that will destroy the bubbles randomly. This also
helps to pop bubbles occupying inaccessible tiles.
13. In this level mode you will be required
to make a required number of words
of a certain length. Tiles with
entanglers do not count for the total
word length. Each crown played
counts 1 extra towards the length of
the word scored. Crowns play or
blasted are included in the count.
Words that are longer but do not meet
a longer requirement are scored as
shorter words (e.g., a 5-letter word will
count as 4-letters if no 5 letter word is
required.) Crowns played in excess of
those needed to make the scored
requirement are returned to the board
in a random location (e.g., a 5-letter
with 2 crowns scored as a 6 letter
word will return 1 crown to the board.
Word mode
14. The goal of the growth mode (or cheddar
spreader) levels is to cover a number of tiles
with cheese. Only words containing at least
one cheese-covered box will spread the
cheese. Try to eliminate entanglers as fast as
possible while trying to spread the cheese.
Crowns and line blasters allow the cheese to
spread faster, also in places not necessarily
accessible. Please note that in some levels,
the cheese does not need to be spread over
all the boxes. Playing with the crowns spreads
cheese randomly on a box adjacent to the
cheese already spread. Line blasters covered
with cheese spread cheese onto the blasted
tiles when played.
