This poem suggests that evolution is a natural process by which all living things, including humans, have developed and changed forms over time to become better adapted to their environments. It implies that humans continue to evolve and have yet to reach our full potential, and hopes that we can open our minds to thinking about our ongoing evolution and imagine new possibilities for ourselves in the future.
This document discusses how people constantly seek out the perfect solution or event that will make them happy through great savings or ideal living situations, but these dreams are always just out of reach and don't deliver what is expected. It questions whether people should keep striving for unattainable perfection or find fulfillment through other means instead.
This poem reflects on whether the speaker's perspective, represented as a lens, is wide enough to understand complex topics like beauty and desecration, diversity and patterns, depth and purpose, right and wrong, and the distance between people with different ideas. The speaker hopes their perspective can shift and expand over time to gain a more informed understanding rather than be limited by a narrow lens.
This 3 sentence summary provides the high level and essential information from the document:
The document discusses how stories can fascinate us by reminding us of emotions, visions, and truths we once felt or held as essential yet let languish unattended as we pursued other options. Beneath the stories that thrill our hearts lies a deeper narrative that, true or not, paves the road upon which we will walk, and as we come to know its power we can also come to know our own power to choose beyond the narrative and challenge ourselves.

This poem discusses how people get caught up in the routines of everyday life and focus only on what can be seen, touched, and measured. This narrow focus blinds us to deeper realities. However, sometimes brief moments arise that allow us to sense a deeper awareness. These moments pass quickly before we can fully understand them. The poem asks that we remain open to such moments of deeper connection and celebrate the sense of gift they bring, rather than analyze them factually, instead resting in their lingering beauty.

The document discusses how the future that once seemed distant is now the present. It states that we are living out possibilities that were once only imagined or feared, as well as opportunities not previously grasped. However, it also says that we can still shape the future through our courage, dreams, and choices, as the future remains unwritten and there is freedom yet to be offered.

We create institutions to help establish a world reflective of our values. But the world changes. We change. Sometimes, even our values change. And often, the institutions we create begin to struggle under the weight of their own success. We must learn to build fluidity into our institutions and so allow them to be a dynamic presence in our lives. Created for West Hill United, www.westhill.net
The document discusses Greta Vosper, a Canadian minister who no longer believes in God. She leads worship services at her Unitarian Congregation in Toronto based on humanist principles of kindness, compassion, and justice rather than beliefs in deities or supernatural beings. The document discusses plans to renovate and expand the Town School facilities to better support 21st century learning. It aims to retain high academic and social standards while celebrating boyhood. The renovations and new building areas will feature a STEM center, literary arts center, flexible learning spaces, and a multipurpose room/gym. This will allow for innovations like project-based learning. The $15 million project will be financed through a capital campaign and borrowing.
In 5 steps, Daniyaal Hussain created a magazine by first adding a background picture of four men and creating the main title "Q" as the masthead. He then used a masking tool to make the "Q" appear behind the men and added gradients to give the magazine a dark atmosphere. Finally, he found a font in Publisher, typed the title "Arctic Monkeys" in a text box, and adjusted the spacing and size.

The document discusses five conceptual organizational models for restructuring the space at Golden Gate University's San Francisco campus. Option 1 groups all programs together under one university identity. Option 2 separates spaces by activity level from quiet to noisy. Option 3 prioritizes school identity and includes shared academic spaces. Option 4 also prioritizes school identity but gives the law school its own space. Option 5 further separates each school and program into distinct spaces with minimal shared areas.
The document summarizes the content and design elements of two magazine content pages. For the first magazine, "Vibe", the content page features the magazine title in a capital white font against a dark background. It also depicts the model's legs in a "V" shape, representing the first letter of the magazine title. The second magazine, "Q", keeps its content page design simple without a grid, using only red and white colors to represent the main logo. It briefly explains the contents unlike most magazines and includes some unusual quotes.
The truth about what Earth is – what it’s made of, the universe in which it spins, the delicate balance that exists amongst its inhabitants – has increased over all our generations as we have learned more and more about it. Yet we are not satisfied for we do not know everything. In this moment, the light that is knowledge, surrounds us and yet evades us. So the quest continues...
Inspired by Barbara Ehrenreich's quote: The real philanthropists in our society are the people who work for less than they can live actually live on because they are giving of their time and their energy and their talents all the time so that people like you can be dressed well and fed cheaply." Exhausted, we often believe we have nothing left to give. But each day, in so many ways, the tally at the end is overflowing.

The roots of the 14th century English word "compassion" are from the French for "struggle" and "together". But the roots of its Hebrew twin are much deeper and are shared with the word "rechemet" - "womb". This brings a whole new perspective to compassion ensuring that we consider that even as there is a time for us to hold one another compassionately, there is also a time when we must let go.

Our relationships matter. Although we are responsible for only our part in them, the perspective we bring can either enhance or detract from creating a relationship of beauty and goodness. Twentieth century theologian Martin Buber captured the essence of relationship with his classic "I-Thou" reminding us that we have the option to treat the people, things, and ideas around us as sacred and holy or desecrate them by treated them as merely means to achieve our own personal goals. Focused Moment created for West Hill United.
This poem explores the thin lines that divide different aspects of life and existence such as dawn and day, twilight and dark, sea and shore, shadow and light, air and breath. It compares these subtle divisions to the line between two people in a relationship, suggesting that just as nature's divisions cannot truly separate these things, differences between people in a relationship do not have to divide them either. The poem advocates embracing and celebrating differences as what brings people together and holds their relationship. It hopes that the relationship will continue learning to love without limitations.
Presentation prepared for West Hill United's Affirming Celebration, December 4, 2011 featuring the photo essay Pride/Prejudice: Voices of LGBTQ Youth which is the work of internationally acclaimed photographer and activist, Rachelle Lee Smith. This poem expresses gratitude for life's endless possibilities and wonders. It contrasts those whose hearts and minds are numbed by routine with those who feel inspired and in awe of each moment. The poem calls on the reader to embrace life's transient nature with open hearts, wonder, and gratitude, and find joy in each moment rather than fearing its passing.
This document describes how a seemingly ordinary life was transformed by the arrival of others. While initially simple, the narrator's space is now stretched beyond what it was into a more complex world of compromise, cooperation, and expectations as a result of the new relationships formed with those who have arrived. The narrator hopes that each intertwining moment within these relationships can be cherished.
The document describes waking up to a beautiful morning with a blue sky and light shimmering against distant windows. However, it notes that within each new day lies the "ragged, sharp, destructive shrapnel" of dreams broken by tragedy. When tragedy strikes through acts of violence, it causes tears and shards of light to erupt and fall, carving deep wounds into the hearts of loved ones and communities. The document calls on people to live boldly in love despite fears and rise up each morning without fear, in the spirit of continuing beauty despite hardship.
Inspired by Mark Nichol's list of 100 Beautiful and Ugly Words, this focused moment was written for West Hill United, www.westhill.net, September 4, 2011
This document discusses how headlines and gossip focus on negative events like climate change, crime, war, unemployment, accidents, losses, and failures which can wound our hearts and lower our spirits. It suggests we instead talk about beautiful things, heal our wounded hearts, lift our flagging spirits, and celebrate the wonder of life even when eclipsed by what passes for news. It concludes by praying that we who want to make a positive difference in the world.
The document is a poem reflecting on Earth seen from space, with no visible borders between countries, just a shared home for all humanity. It asks that we look beyond national divisions and conflicts defined by invisible lines, and instead honor and respect all people on the planet we call home.
The Book of Ruth is included in the third division, or the Writings, of the Hebrew Bible. In most Christian canons it is treated as one of the historical books and placed between Judges and 1 Samuel.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
