This is because in winter, the days are darker and in spring they become lighter. - 7. Activity: MakeYour OwnSpring Senses Journal Instructions: 1. You will need a piece of paper, a ruler, and some colouring pencils 2. At the top of your paper, write the title‘Spring Senses Journal’ 3. Divide your piece of paper into four sections 4. Label each section with a title: Sight,Touch/Feel,Taste, Hear 5. During the day, fill in the sections with the things you can see, touch/feel, taste, and hear – try notice the things around you! 5. Label each thing with a word and a picture There are lots of things you can sense inside your home, or from a window or balcony J See the next slide for some examples!

Did you feel the sunshine? Did you feel the wind? What can you see from your window? Birds, people, houses?What can you see in the sky – the sun, clouds, the moon? Did you see words on a page of a book? Did you watch theTV? Can you hear birds? Can you hear people talking, or laughing, or playing an instrument? Can you hear theTV or radio? What did you taste today, and how can you describe the taste? For example lemons are sour, cookies are sweet, chilies are spicy, popcorn is salty.

Now that youare thinking about your senses, you can write a letter or an email to someone telling them about your day.You can write about what you saw, heard, felt and tasted – especially if something unusual or special happened! - 10. Dear Lauren, In myEnglish class we are learning about spring.We did a project about our senses.We wrote about the things we saw, heard, tasted, and felt during the day. Today I saw a little bird from my window, it made a lovely sound. I also listened to music on the radio with my sister. I tasted fresh oranges and melon. My parents made a chocolate cake for dessert and it tasted delicious.Today the weather was sunny, and there were no clouds in the sky. - 13. Activity: GrowYour OwnBean Plant WHATYOU NEED 1. A dry broad bean 2. A glass jar 3. Kitchen roll 4. Water INSTRUCTIONS 1. Put a small amount of water around the jar. 2. Wet your kitchen roll a little bit and place in the jar. 3. Place the bean seed in the jar resting on the kitchen roll. 4. Spray some water on the bean every few days. The bean should start to grow roots after a few days, this is called germination! In spring, lots of fruits and vegetables start to grow in people’s gardens and farms.You can try growing your own bean plant inside your home!
