ALERT! APP
Send alerts when in danger.
What is the “ALERT!” APP?
This free app is meant to be helpful in a dangerous
situation. In this app, you will input up to 3
emergency contacts. When you feel you may be in
danger, simply press the ALERT button in the app
and it will send your location to each of your
emergency contacts along with a message
informing them that you are in danger.
Goal
The ultimate goal in mind when creating this app
was to ensure one’s safety if they ever felt that they
were in danger.
Background
As the years pass, crime rates seem to go up. This
app would be very useful for those in college. They
are entering a new environment and it is their first
time being on their own. This app provides a sense
of security for these students as well as any given
individual in the world.
Personal
My personal experience with being on my own
influenced me to create this app to help others as
well as myself. Living in a city, there may be a lot of
instances when you encounter an uncertain
situation and this app would be perfect for that.
This way you may alert someone if you feel like you
could be in danger.
App Design
Features
- Directory for your emergency contacts
- ALERT button to alert your emergency contacts
- Location services that enables your phone to
share your current location with contacts
How to use
The design of this app was set up to be an easy to
use interface. There is a tab at the bottom labeled
“CONTACTS”. To add your contacts you will go into
this tab and add their name and number. The only
other tab, on the bottom right, is the “ALERT” tab
which is how you can send an alert to your contacts
which will automatically share your location with
them.
Why is this important?
The importance of this app is to send your current
location out to emergency contacts when you feel
you may be in danger. This will then automatically
share your location with them just in case anything
were to happen. Being a college student myself in a
new city, I know this app could be very useful. It will
also help give parents peace of mind if they’re
sending their child away from home.
Who am I helping?
Initially, I created this app with the intention to help
college students across the world. This app is not
made ONLY for college students. Anyone may use
this app. Everyone might encounter a dangerous
situation at least once in their life and now they can
rely on this app to help alert a trusted contact when
they feel that they are in danger.
