Three Dimensions
Spotlighting more than 150 sculptures by Pablo
Picasso, the exhibition “Picasso Sculpture,” at The
Museum of Modern Art from September 14, 2015,
through February 7, 2016, will be the largest
showing of the Spanish artist’s sculptures in the
United States in almost half a century. While the
artist’s paintings are recognized the world over,
Picasso kept his sculptures more private. He had
no formal training in sculpting and approached
the art form unconventionally, taking particular
freedom to experiment.
The sculptures, paper works and photographs
in the exhibition will be organized according to
periods in Picasso’s life. By re-creating his art
with different materials and processes, Picasso
influenced the way sculpture was viewed and
made. For more information, call 212-708-

A True Seattle Celebration
The Emerald City’s annual multi-arts
festival Bumbershoot, at Seattle Center,
September 5–7, will feature more than 80
musical performances this year, with
headliners such as Ellie Goulding, The
Weeknd and Hozier. This year’s festival will
also feature comedy shows, a variety of
literary and spoken-word discussions, and
a stage dedicated solely to local artists.
Attendees can visit Bumbershoot’s
varied on-site venues—from smaller stages
across Seattle Center to main stages at
Memorial Stadium and KeyArena—and
gaze up at the Space Needle while enjoying
food and music outdoors. Alaska Airlines is
a sponsor of Seattle Center and KeyArena.
In addition to providing world-class entertainment,
Bumbershoot also emphasizes sustainability. The festival
recycles 7.5 tons of material annually, has compost stations,
and encourages festivalgoers to take public transportation. To
