Brynn Kasper is part of a team that has created an afterschool STEM club at the Metro Deaf School in St. Paul to teach engineering concepts to deaf students using sign language. The program started with circuits lessons and has expanded to cover different engineering disciplines like civil, aerospace, software and electrical engineering. During the sessions, students do hands-on activities like building structures from toothpicks and gumdrops or making paper airplanes. Brynn became involved because she is fluent in ASL and wanted to use her language skills. Her work has helped expand her knowledge of engineering terms in ASL.
