Following the April 13th release of the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report on Mitigation, including Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Uses (AFOLU), this event will provided an opportunity to listen to IPCC authors summarize their findings and for all participants to join in a dialog with practitioners and financiers to discuss actionable steps for mitigation in the agricultural sector.
The event was a joint effort of the World Bank, the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases, and the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS).

Expansion of CleanStar cooking solution to other cities in Sub-Saharan Africa
CleanStar is expanding its cooking fuel and stove solution from Mozambique to other cities in Sub-Saharan Africa. It has established an agroforestry system with smallholder farmers in Mozambique to produce feedstock for cooking fuel. This provides income for farmers while preventing deforestation. CleanStar's integrated system includes farms, processing facilities, and urban distribution and sales. It aims to become profitable by 2014 and then expand to more cities, reducing charcoal use and indoor air pollution.

Guysuco, Guyana's sugar company, has developed a long-term strategic plan to improve efficiency and expand production in response to changes in the EU sugar market. This includes constructing a new mill to produce refined sugar and specialty sugars, and potentially an ethanol distillery.
