The document discusses the Agile Scrum methodology. It describes the key principles of Scrum which value individuals and interaction, working software, customer collaboration, and responding to change over processes, documentation, contracts, and plans. It then explains the main roles in Scrum including the Product Owner, Scrum Master, and self-organizing cross-functional Team. It outlines the core Scrum events like the Sprint, Daily Stand-up, Sprint Review, and Retrospective.
The document discusses the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including its objectives, common phases and models. The key models described are waterfall, prototyping, spiral, RAD and agile. Waterfall is the classical sequential model but is inflexible. Prototyping and spiral address changing requirements through iterative cycles. RAD focuses on rapid development through reuse, workshops and early user testing. Agile methods emphasize speed, reduced formal processes and adaptability. The conclusion recommends RAD for mashup projects due to its support for iterative requirements changes and modular development.
Scrum is an agile framework that focuses on delivering working software in short iterations called sprints, typically 2-4 weeks. Self-organizing teams work to complete items from a prioritized backlog list. Daily stand-up meetings and sprint planning, review, and retrospective ceremonies provide transparency and opportunities to inspect and adapt the process as needed. The framework aims to rapidly deliver business value through flexible and collaborative teamwork.
This document provides guidance on effective stand up meetings. It discusses that stand ups should be 15 minutes to synchronize activities and plan for the next day. However, some teams treat it as a status report to the leader, long problem solving meeting, or total chaos. The document recommends focusing on improvement, the team, and keeping status updates brief. It suggests practices like using visual boards, gathering issues to process after, and rotating the facilitator. Large teams may try options like scrum of scrums or fishbowl standups. The goal is sharing with each other, not just reporting, and keeping the energy level high.
One of the Scrum's ceremonies is Stand up meeting or called Scrum daily. During this meeting everyone on the team has to answer the three famous questions: What did you do?
What will you do today? and Do you have any impediments to keep working?
How to Host a Successful Agile Stand-up Meeting.Rod Sherwin
The stand-up meeting is considered an important agile practice but why is it so important and how to you get started with this unusual meeting format? When you watch experienced teams run a stand-up, it seems so easy but what are the secret ingredients to hosting a great stand-up meeting? How do you move from the usual 1-hour snore fest status meeting to a short, sharp, engaged, active and valuable ritual? I use the Host Leadership metaphor to help to think about all the aspects needed to run a successful standup meeting.

Microservice Teams - How the cloud changes the way we workSven Peters
A lot of technical challenges and complexity come with building a cloud-native and distributed architecture. The way we develop backend software has fundamentally changed in the last ten years. Managing a microservices architecture demands a lot of us to ensure observability and operational resiliency. But did you also change the way you run your development teams?
Sven will talk about Atlassian’s journey from a monolith to a multi-tenanted architecture and how it affected the way the engineering teams work. You will learn how we shifted to service ownership, moved to more autonomous teams (and its challenges), and established platform and enablement teams.

UI5con 2024 - Bring Your Own Design SystemPeter Muessig
How do you combine the OpenUI5/SAPUI5 programming model with a design system that makes its controls available as Web Components? Since OpenUI5/SAPUI5 1.120, the framework supports the integration of any Web Components. This makes it possible, for example, to natively embed own Web Components of your design system which are created with Stencil. The integration embeds the Web Components in a way that they can be used naturally in XMLViews, like with standard UI5 controls, and can be bound with data binding. Learn how you can also make use of the Web Components base class in OpenUI5/SAPUI5 to also integrate your Web Components and get inspired by the solution to generate a custom UI5 library providing the Web Components control wrappers for the native ones.

Hand Rolled Applicative User ValidationCode KataPhilip Schwarz
Could you use a simple piece of Scala validation code (granted, a very simplistic one too!) that you can rewrite, now and again, to refresh your basic understanding of Applicative operators <*>, <*, *>?
The goal is not to write perfect code showcasing validation, but rather, to provide a small, rough-and ready exercise to reinforce your muscle-memory.
Despite its grandiose-sounding title, this deck consists of just three slides showing the Scala 3 code to be rewritten whenever the details of the operators begin to fade away.
The code is my rough and ready translation of a Haskell user-validation program found in a book called Finding Success (and Failure) in Haskell - Fall in love with applicative functors.
