2015-present Student - Studied in the Pratt School of Engineering first semester. Switched to the
Trinity College of Arts & Sciences next semester to pursue a deeper interest in neuroscience.
Cours de langue et civilisation française
2014 (fall semester) Student - Intensive course which taught French grammar, phonetics,
history, and literature. Greatly increased French proficiency and cognizance of French
culture.
Waterville Senior High School
2010-2014 High School Diploma -Worked with science department to make AP Chemistry
available to select sophomores. Studied for all AP science tests available to our school
and received a minimum score of 4 on each. Finished most advanced levels of math
offered within three years. Worked with math teacher to create new course for 12th
grade. Took two classes at Colby College. Finished all available French language
courses within three years.
Extracurricular Activities
Duke Rock Climbing Team
2015-present Founder - Primary student focusing efforts on founding. Although club sport status
is yet to be recognized by Duke, I have successfully garnered interest throughout campus from
new and experienced climbers, and secured sponsorship from local rock gyms to hold practices.
Duke Ski and Snowboard Team
2015-present Member/co-founder - Competed as a member of the team, attending regionals and
advancing to nationals. Co-founder of the freestyle skiing arm of the team.
Duke Genome & Research Education Society
2015-present Member - Attend available lectures and seminars. Participated in the freshman
research program, visiting the Gordan Lab and the Steinbach Lab to see graduate and
undergraduate work.
2. Waterville High School Science Olympiad
2013-2014 Studied human anatomy, took second place at state competition (states). Built a
magnetically levitating train and studied magnetics, took first place at states. After being
given a written description of an object, with instructions but no diagrams, took first
place at states reproducing that object. Designed and carried out experiments to test a
given idea, took sixth at states.
2012-2013 Studied human anatomy, took first place at state competition. Built a magnetically
levitating train and studied magnetics, took fourth place at states. Designed and carried
out experiments to test a given idea, took third at states.
2011-2012 Designed and carried out experiments to test a given idea, took third at states. Built
a tower to be most efficient as possible (support the most load per gram of tower), took
first at states.
Health Bridges International
2013 Volunteer - Part of a team that assembled and distributed hygiene kits to underprivileged
families in Peru. Aided physicians with translation and other tasks involved in providing
health care. Renovated facilities of multiple schools and connected with people of all
ages and nationalities. Experienced how a large part of the global population lives, and
realized enhancing the lives of others would be a lifelong endeavor.
Waterville High School Math Team
2012-2014 Founding member - Part of core group which promoted the idea of the team. One of
the few to join the team’s first year. Recruited other students to join, approximately
doubling its size. Encouraged students of all abilities to join.
Mid-Maine Dolphins Swim Team
2012-2014 Volunteer coach - Worked with children ages 8-12. Taught new swimmers proper
techniques for all four strokes, flip-turns, starts, and finishes. Developed new way to
teach the proper diving technique.
2005-2014 Swimmer - Learnt the importance of teamwork and spirit, even in seemingly
individual activities like swimming.
Waterville High School Swim Team
2012-2014 Captain - Created and introduced an out-of-the-pool fitness regimen to the team.
Taught new swimmers techniques individually. Focused on forming a tight-knit team
from multiple segregated individual competitors.
2011-2014 Swimmer - Recruited swimmers from all grades. Increased community interest in
swimming. Helped unify people from different “social groups”, creating a healthier
school community.
National Honor Society
2013-present Member - Built support in my community for the Malala Fund, helped organize
fundraisers and contributions for the Malala Fund. Donated to the Malala Fund.
3. Boys State
2013 Member of House of Representatives - Introduced the bills which proposed the health
system and educational system accepted. Headed committee which reviewed legislative
documents relating to education and health.
Work Experience
Duke Outdoor Adventures
2015-present Employee - Worked as wall monitor first semester on job. Expressed interest in
higher degree of participation, now I work as a wall monitor and route setter.
Waterville Municipal Pool
2011-2012 (summers) Lifeguard - Enforced pool rules and disciplined patrons when necessary.
Rescued two people during occupation. CPR certified. Red Cross lifeguard certified.
Resigned because the hours were inflexible and disrupting to the academic activities I
desired to participate in.
