Adaptive/acquired immunity develops during a person's life and is characterized by specificity and memory, differentiating between specific pathogens. It constitutes the third line of defense and includes cellular and humoral responses, involving T cells and B cells. The synthesis of antibodies occurs in the bone marrow, while T cells mature in the thymus.
