2. Born in Long Island, NY, raised in New Jersey, Adam first picked up a guitar at the age
of four. Sporadic lessons as a child and teen helped him learn the basics of the
instrument; but the bulk of his learning came from his participation with various
bands throughout high school. This was also when he began writing songs.
Everything from jazz to heavy metal, Adam played it all.
His senior year of high school was centered around playing New York City clubs with
a Billy Joel/Richard Marx inspired band. It was this band that caught the eye of a
Nashville manager who brought them back to Tennessee with the intentions of
breaking them into commercial success. After a short six months, the band broke up
and the manager told Adam he would never work in Nashville again…
A few years after playing around town with various rock artists, Adam landed a job
answering phones at Woodland Studios in East Nashville where he accredits catching
the bug for session playing. He loved playing live but there was something about
being a part of creating the recorded music that lit a fire in him.
In 1997, Adam was asked to audition for Hollywood Records artist, Big Kenny.
Although he didn’t have experience or any desire to be a part of country music, this
led to him becoming a member of Big & Rich both in the studio and on the road. His
first national radio debut was the multi-platinum hit, “Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy”.
3. When Big & Rich started gaining their national recognition, Adam began playing local
showcases for record labels with an up-and-coming artist named Jason Aldean. Once
Aldean landed his record deal, he asked Adam to play acoustic and electric guitar on a
few songs for his record, Hicktown. He has since played on every Jason Aldean record
to date.
After about five years of touring with Big & Rich, Adam decided to take a break from
the road and focus on studio work. He had become known as the guy who played
power chords on hit country records, something he never thought he’d be a part of.
The rock sounds in country music are more prevalent today than ever, and it is
because of the musicians like Adam who bring something different into the studio on
recording day. It’s an era that he has made waves in and will undoubtedly continue to
evolve with.
Fast forward to 2014, Adam has played on countless successful country records for
artists such as Luke Bryan, Keith Urban and Blake Shelton (among many others). He’s
also written a Billboard No. 1 song, has been nominated for ACM and CMA Awards,
and is currently touring the globe with country music superstar Tim McGraw as lead
guitarist.
