2. NOISE
What is the problem with noise?
Sounds and noise are an important part of
everyday life. In small amounts they are
harmless, but if they are too loud they can cause
problems. Hearing damage caused by noise is
permanent and incurable - it can range from
sounds appearing muffled to total deafness.
Permanent ‘tinnitus’ or ringing in the ears can be
caused as well.
What does the law say?
The Noise at Work Regulations 1989 say what
you and your employer must do. It is important
that you and your employer co-operate - it is
your hearing that will be damaged if the
danger is not controlled.
3. Acoustic Enclosure
The control of noise in industry is becoming very important.
Increased worker compensation claims involving hearing
damage, and the advent of ever-increasing legislative; safety
and economic requirements make a noise reduction program
mandatory for many industries. Additionally, the government
Provincial, or Local ordinances have been enacted to further
protect the communities from unwanted ‘Industrial ’noise as it
migrates offsite. To meet these specific noise reduction
requirements, Ecotone manufactures and supply a complete
line of acoustically designed panels, which can be quickly and
easily assembled to provide complete or as desired, partial
enclosures for any noisy equipment. Ecotone panels are
designed to provide optimum noise control through the time
proven method of sound transmission loss and sound
absorption, using our proprietary internal arrangements and
key specified materials to meet or exceed your requirements.
Our unique panel internal arrangements are specifically
designed for each application and are sized to meet your
requirements.
Additionally, enclosures can be designed with doors, windows,
access panels and removable panels, floors. Doors are
equipped with heavy-duty hardware and with seals to prevent
further noise leakage. Window panels are framed and gasket
sealed as specified. If constant access to the equipment is
needed, removable panels will be incorporated in the enclosure
design. All-important ventilation of the enclosure is also
incorporated into the design based upon your requirements.
Specialty paints, finishes and metal types are also available
upon request.
4. Acoustic Enclosure
Ecotone acoustic enclosures are
designed to control noise generated
from any machine, the noise reduction
should be as per client requirement OR
as per Pollution board norms / ISO
14001 norms for noise pollution.
As per CPCB / ISO 14401 norms noise
should not be more than 75 dB(A) at
one meter from enclosure surface
All acoustic enclosure comes with air
ventilation system to avoid any heating
inside the enclosure which might affect
machine performance.

7. Range of Noise Enclosures
Each enclosure is designed and manufactured to suit or be a
heavy integrated housing. Additional features include lifting
beams, lighting, fire and gas detection & protection systems.
We also offer the drop over design which has the advantage
of low installation time, quick access to the noise generating
machines for major maintenance. Acoustic Enclosures are
dismountable type, we can dismantle easily and re-erect at
alternative site.
All our enclosures are designed to allow the maximum
aspiration and cooling airflow required to make sure machine
does not overheat. Weather louvers, acoustic louvers, splitter
and baffles are provided to suppress the noise where
required.
Acoustic enclosures will be as varied as the customer's
requirements. The enclosure outer walls generally consist of
1.6-2mm thickness of CRCA steel sheeting outside, and inner
surface is GI perforated sheet filled with tissue paper
laminated rock wool pads.

Mitigation recommendations included:
• attenuate radiated compressor noise by erecting a sound
curtain barrier wall,
• control reflected noise from the ceiling by adding a roof to
the sound curtain wall,
• reduce reflected noise by adding acoustical absorption to
the adjacent concrete wall and ceiling surfaces,
• construct a dedicated room to enclose the two
compressors from concrete block or stud and gypsum
board, and
• relocate nearby employees to a location further away from
the compressors.
12. Air Blower Noise Enclosure
Ecotone has designed Blower Enclosures for removable
acoustic steel sound enclosures for Blower Enclosures. Our
blower enclosures are designed for your specification,
whether they are needed for 85 dBA (decibels) of lower,
something that can be a concern in a quiet community
property line. We can also make sure that other high sound
reduction levels are met as well.
The blower enclosures have been measured to be 60-80%
quieter in all aspects of the installation process, including
during and after the equipment install. This is done by our
designed and manufactured Blower Enclosure system.
Some features that are included are the frame system,
silenced air intake, modular acoustic steel panels and
exhaust fans.
Many different clients have happily utilized our blower
enclosures for various purposes. All the features with the
Ecotone Blower Enclosures create an easy maintenance and
durability in a long period.
Please call us today to discuss all your Blower Enclosure
needs and we will have an experienced engineer or
consultant be happy to answer any questions you may
have.
15. CNC Machine Noise Enclosure
CNC punch presses are capable of producing high levels of noise,
depending on the type of material and operation they are performing.
An older machine, for instance a 30-ton, 40-station mechanical press,
can expose an operator at the control panel to 95 dB(A) during a
typical punching cycle on 3 mm steel. Improvements in design have
made newer machines generally quieter than older ones, although
according to manufacturers’ figures the noisiest operations can still
result in noise levels above 100 dB(A) at the operating position.
Ecotone is able to reduce CNC machine noise by 25-40 dBA using a
noise suppression treatment.
Sources of noise from CNC punch presses:
Punch presses generate noise from a number of sources, including:
• tool impact;
• the driving mechanism;
• hydraulic pumps;
• sheet manipulation;
• the clamping mechanism;
• transfer and collection of punched components; and
• vibrating machine panels.
