当今的环境挑战 由于新环境保护法开始执行，许多公司突然面对废水，废气排放达标严峻挑战。大多数公司只考虑找到在最后排污阶段使用某些技术来控制污染。有时由于处理手段有限，他们没有其他的选择。 然而公司并非一定需要通过投资新技术来达到合规。 因此，一个公司首先需要分清哪些选项可以用解决当今环境的挑战。 一个公司应该专注于增加价值而不是增加成本，并要确定能否在6 到9 个月时间收回 成本。 只有这样公司才可以用较小的成本解决环保问题，甚至还有正面的影响。然后正面影响所带来的效益会逐年积累。下图显示一个公司可以通过选项来面对环保的挑战。 我举一个两个月前看到的一个石化厂的例子。这个厂的污水处理厂的规模是原设计量的两倍并且处理水质一直是达标的。 但是现在污水厂的经理开始非常担心，因为处理后的水质不能达到当地政府最新设立的水质标准，而且工厂也没有扩建处理厂的预算。他问我能否有某项技术可以用到目前的处理厂来解决问题。 当我们仔细分析这一案例，我们明白实际问题是工厂的各个车间工艺污水所造成的。而各个车间的工艺污水排放可以通过改进工厂的管理以及工艺和操作方法是污水处理能力得到提升。而这些改进是可以在一年内完成。

When operating in China, it is important to understand these challenges and opportunities and strive for partnerships that benefit all stakeholders.
