1. Jesus likes to spike our lives with
the new—new experiences, new plans,
changes, and twists and turns.
Sometimes we can get too easily
perturbed by small changes, or
we let deviations from what we had
planned unsettle us. However, that
perspective will only hold us
back in life, because change will
continue to be a feature of the
future. It’s a bit like kayaking
down whitewater rapids. You
can embrace the foamy rapids,
hold tight to your oar, and
start paddling with the
current, or you can panic
and try to paddle away
from the current. Either
way you’re experiencing
the adventure, but one
experience is more
enjoyable than the
other.

2. When things change, rather than fighting the
change, be flexible, ask Jesus why things
changed, then see how you can flow with it.
Changes are to be embraced, not avoided.
You can also pray for a spirit of adventure. Pray
for excitement and joy when the unexpected
happens. Pray that you will flow even when you
don’t yet know or understand where the Lord
is taking you, or why He’s leading in a certain
direction. Pray for enthusiasm as you shoot down
the rapids of change.
