Academic Lesson
Kindergarten
(4-6 years old)
For: Child and Parent
Math and M&Ms
30 minutes
Instructions:
 This lesson will focus on color recognition and counting.
 First, ask your child to separate their M&Ms by color.
 Ask your child to point to and name each color.
o Or, you can point to a color and ask your child to name
it. You can also name a color and have your child name
it. The options are endless!
 Then, have your child count the number of M&Ms in each
color category and write it on the worksheet.
 Now, help your child complete the rest of the questions on
the worksheet.
 Finally, count all of the M&Ms!
 Then, enjoy eating them with your child!

How many ORANGE m&m’s do you have? __________
How many YELLOW m&m’s do you have? __________

 In this activity you can practice Free Play with your child!
o Focus on using PRIDE skills
 Praise—praise your child for their positive actions!
 Reflect—reflect any questions back onto the child,
let them be in control of the play time!
 Imitate—imitate your child’s actions
 Describe—describe their actions
 Enjoyment—have fun!
 In this bag there are coloring pages, crayons, toy cars, and
bubbles for play time.
o Let your child choose what they want to do!
This kit should include:
 Coloring pages
 Crayons
 Toy cars
 Bubbles
 Other small toys
