1. A study compared a traditional paper-based questionnaire to a new animation-based questionnaire to examine if the animated version provided clearer context for questions. 2. Undergraduate students responded to two identical questions presented in both formats, finding the animation version provided significantly clearer context for one question about dual monitors while responses were similar for the other about voice recognition. 3. Most students reported the animation version helped them better understand the question contexts, supporting the idea that animations can more vividly depict abstract concepts compared to text alone.

This paper examined gender influence in the use of Mobile Phone Short Message Service (SMS) on note-taking and comprehension of materials presented through an audio system. Two research questions and hypotheses guided the study. The design of the study was quasi-experimental non-equivalent pretest and posttest. A sample of 400 subjects was drawn from the research population of 800 using stratified simple random sampling procedure. Two instruments were used for data collection. One of the instruments was the Audio- Taped Lecture (ATL) and the second was the Test for Assessing Comprehension (TAC). These instruments designed by the researcher were subjected to validate. Reliability coefficients of 0.88 and 0.81 were obtained for ATL and TAC respectively. Data for the study were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The results of the study included that SMS style of writing improved students’ note-taking competence as well as comprehension of the notes for both the male and female students and that there was no significant difference in performance based on gender. Recommendations included that students be encouraged to use SMS writing styles for note-taking during lectures and that the use of SMS for note-taking could be tailored towards correcting gender differences in achievement.Making the introductory science lab accessible online apr 2012

The effect of PowerPoint Presentation–based (PPPb) quiz to the students’ scores has been rarely studied. It is the intention of this research to understand the effect of PPPb quiz to students score in wave motion and the students’ experiences under such a strategy. This research used a mixed approach: quasi-experimental to learn if scores gain was significant, and thematic analysis was used to know the experiences of the students. The results confirmed that PPPb quiz has indeed increased the scores of the students. Statistical analysis verified that this increase was significant. On the thematic analysis, students manifested comparing oral quiz to PPPb, caught their attention, and vivid communication. Therefore, the effect of PPPb was significant to the students because it positively impacted their scores in wave motion and promoted vivid communication among students.VIDEO OBJECTS DESCRIPTION IN HINDI TEXT LANGUAGE

Abstract Digital technologies have been used for mea-
surement purposes and whether the test medium influences
the user is an important issue. The aim of this study is to
investigate students’ performances and duration differences
between online and paper–pencil tests. An online testing tool
was developed and administered in order to determine the
differences between the traditional paper–pencil tests and
online tests concerning students’ performances and the
duration on tests. This tool enables to add questions that
utilize an online database and which are in the form of
multiple choice (with 5 or 4 options), true–false, matching,
filling in the blanks, with multiple answers, with short
answers, with long answers, and it also enables to prepare
tests and to turn them into paper–pencil test mode. Perfor-
mance test was applied with both online and paper–pencil
modes on junior students at one of the universities in Turkey.
Besides, the online testing tool developed within the context
of the study was evaluated by instructors with respect to
usability, relevance to the purpose and design. Instructor and
student questionnaires are developed to determine the
opinions on the online testing tool and online tests. Results
showed that there was no significant differences between the
performances on online and paper–pencil tests. On the other
hand, the time they spent on the online test has been longer
than the time they spent on paper–pencil test. Students found
the online testing tool easy to use and stated that online test
medium is more comfortable than paper–pencil tests.
However, they complained about external noises, tiredness,
and focusing problems regarding the online examination
mediums. Generally, instructors have also appreciated the
online testing tool’s design and they agree on the fact that it
serves for its purposes.
