APJ Abdul Kalam was born in 1931 in India and rose from humble beginnings to become a renowned scientist and the 11th President of India. He had a distinguished career working on important projects for the Indian Space Research Organisation and Defence Research and Development Organisation, earning him the title of "Missile Man of India" for his work on ballistic missile and space programs. As a scientist and statesman, Kalam made many contributions to India's technological and economic progress and inspired millions of people around the world with his vision, simplicity and dedication to public service.
