This document discusses constructing a theoretical framework for conceptualizing seaports. It reviews past studies that classified seaport research and identified contextual dimensions. Specifically, it examines 5 studies that related seaports to contexts like space, time, economics, functions, institutions, and operations. However, none provided a new graphical representation or definition of seaports. This document aims to develop such a framework to comprehensively define seaports in institutional and operational contexts. It will review concepts and models to include in a new seaport concept, presented with a graphical representation and definition.
