A STORY OF KEN AND KATE AND
HOW SLEEP AFFECTED THEIR LIVES
2. It was past 7am and after Ken had a
heavy breakfast he lazed around in the
house for awhile
3. But Kate liked to go for her exercise
just before a light breakfast
5. Ken barely got enough sleep the night before
because he had to catch up with his favorite late
TV show and now he’s mind is a bit fuzzy at
work making silly mistakes at work like
forgetting crucial document and meetings so he
is working double time to make up for lost time;
and all the catching up has just gotten him
frustrated.
6. So he decides to go grab a quick lunch saying
to himself “there’s nothing food can’t
handle, after this I’ll be good as new.” Sadly
that didn’t help him. He later realized that
maybe he should have had something lighter
because he was less alert.
7. Ken made some mistakes of omission on his
presentation which made the company look
really bad. This made his boss really upset that
he simply said to ken. “Don’t expect full pay at
the end of the month, your incompetence has
caused the company a lot you better shape up
or shape out.”
8. Ken’s good friend Kelvin came over to talk
to Ken “what’s wrong with you my friend?
Are you sleeping well? Because, this is
really unlike you.”
9. Ken is frustrated with the turn of events
and lashes out on Kelvin “Let me be how
and when I sleep has nothing to do with
this.”
10. “Oh but it does.” Kelvin replied “If you don’t get
enough sleep how do expect to be productive?”
“More sleep you are more alert and less likely to
make mistakes. You need to change your lifestyle my
friend, sometimes having a bedtime routine, a little
exercise or a quick power nap at noon can make all
the difference.”
11. “I never saw it that way.” Ken replied
“thanks Kelvin I’ll Look into it.”
12. Ken gets home sits in front of the T.V but is not
watching the program because he is troubled. “ How
do I explain to Kate that I can’t keep my promise to
her?” he mumbled “how do I tell Kate that we can’t
go to Paris at the end of the month all because I
didn’t give myself some more sleep time.”
13. On the other hand Kate was very alert at work
and multi tasking efficiently
14. Her boss was so impressed with her work
and actually gave her a raise.
15. She was so excited that as soon as she got
home she got on her laptop to tell Ken of
her day.
16. She hasn’t gotten a response from Ken
yet(who’s probably still worried) but
nothing gets in the way of her bed time
routine. So, she does little meditating
19. And then it lights out. “Tomorrow is
another day.” Kate says to herself “I will
worry about hearing from Ken when I
wake up but tonight I must sleep.”
