RACE is a report-based payment scheme proposed for multihop wireless networks to encourage node cooperation. It aims to reduce communication and processing overhead compared to existing receipt-based schemes. Under RACE, nodes submit lightweight payment reports without signatures to an accounting center. The center can clear fair reports with little overhead by checking consistency between reports. For cheating reports, the center requests security tokens from nodes to identify the specific cheaters. RACE can identify cheaters by requesting tokens from few nodes rather than all involved. It also uses evidence aggregation to reduce storage needs. Analysis and simulation show RACE has lower overhead than receipt-based schemes while still securing payments and identifying cheaters accurately.
