The Morean Arts Center, formally the Art Club of St. Petersburg, is another excellent,
historical institution in the City of St. Petersburg with deep roots in the arts community
since 1917. The Arts Center's modern architecture juxtaposed with the folk style design
of the Center's historic Seaboard train station is especially relevant considering the eclectic
works of art housed both at the Art Center's Museum and those crafted by art students at
the glass, clay, metal, jewelry and fine arts educational centers.

style that sets St. Petersburg as a city apart from the others within Pinellas County. Noteworthy architect Richard

a pristine white color. It is Oldsmar’s oldest surviving commercial building, originally erected by Ransom Eli Olds in what he referred to
as “downtown.” Chartered as Oldsmar Bank in 1920, the sleepy bank was a giant, handling more than one million dollars in deposits,
which accounts for the area’s land boom. Today, the Oldsmar Bank building houses the Oldsmar Historical Society and its museum, and
the Chamber of Commerce and City Council. A terrific old building with great bones would make the perfect backdrop in a period film,

Once a playground for distinguished celebrities, the seaside Don CeSar Hotel continues to charm and
impress guests today with service reserved for the Great Gatsby era of pampering. The "Pink Castle,"
or simply "the Don" as it's known to the locals, was built by Thomas Rowe in 1928. Named for the
chivalrous Don Ce-Sar in Vincent Wallace's light opera "Maritana," the Don miraculously survived the
Great Depression when the New York Yankees signed a three-year spring training contract in 1931,
saving the Resort from bankruptcy. Throughout the Don's historical existence, the hotel went from
being a luxurious, exclusive resort for the likes of celebrities like F. Scott Fitzgerald, FDR, and Al Capone
to an Army hospital during World War II and a U.S. Air Force convalescent center, stripped of its pink
color and painted government green. Thankfully, since 1973, the Don CeSar Hotel regained its roaring
20s glamour and was registered as a Historic Hotel in 1989.
