This research project uses a general to specific modeling approach to analyze tourism demand in the Gothenburg region from its top five markets: Sweden, Norway, UK, USA and Germany. It examines factors that determine tourism demand and derives elasticities using annual time series data from 1982 to 2013. The main findings relate to domestic and regional markets in Gothenburg. The researcher has degrees in economics and environmental economics and is interested in developing a career related to the growing travel and tourism industry.
