A presentation about Wikimedia Israel, originally presented at the EVA/Minerva annual conference in Jerusalem 2007. Note: I updated the data on July 2008. The original presentation included animation.
This document summarizes a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of flow separation control over an airfoil using a co-flow jet technique. The co-flow jet concept injects a high-velocity jet near the leading edge and sucks air near the trailing edge to enhance mixing and allow the flow to remain attached at high angles of attack. CFD simulations found that the co-flow jet airfoil significantly increased maximum lift, increased stall angle by 5 degrees, and expanded the operating range by 38%. While drag was higher for the co-flow jet airfoil, its lift-to-drag ratio was also much larger, indicating improved aerodynamic efficiency overall. The co-flow jet technique was found to effectively delay flow
The document describes the process of building reference and local ontologies to enable semantic interoperability between European employment services (ES) data sources. It involves:
1. Building a reference ontology by selecting standards and integrating them.
2. Building local ontologies for each ES either by specializing the reference ontology or reverse engineering from their data sources.
3. Creating mappings between the local ontologies and ES data sources and between local ontologies and the reference ontology. Tools are used to create and test the mappings.
The approach aims to facilitate semantic interoperability while allowing flexibility for local variations through the use of local ontologies and mappings.
The document discusses the history of chocolate, from its origins in Mesoamerica to its popularity in Europe. Cacao beans were first used as currency and medicine by the Olmec and Mayans. Spanish conquistadors introduced chocolate to Europe in the 16th century, where it became a popular drink among the elite. By the 19th century, chocolate had evolved into a global commodity.
Проблемой сегодняшнего дня является снижение интереса к математике( и в целом, к обучению) у большинства учащихся и как следствие – падение уровня ее усвоения , увеличение количества слабо-успевающих учащихся.

Wikimedia, MediaWiki & Education in IT discusses Wikimedia projects like Wikipedia that run on MediaWiki software. It explains that Wikimedia's mission is to develop free educational content. MediaWiki is an open-source wiki software originally created for Wikipedia that is now widely used. The document discusses wikis and their use for collaboration in education, with examples like a student wiki at Hong Kong Shue Yan University. It concludes that wikis enable instant reference, common knowledge, two-way learning, and mass collaboration compared to traditional methods.
The document discusses a tour of the Jerusalem Archaeological Park that took place on April 26, 2006 and was attended by 62 people. It introduces Dov Winer, the Israel MINERVA Coordinator and Director of eJewish.info, who gave a presentation about developing Jewish networking infrastructures. The archaeological park contains remains from the Early Islamic period.

Online access to Jewish Archives. Session on Jewish Archives in Israel and the World. INFO 2007, The 22th Annual International Conference Hilton Hotel, Tel-Aviv May 1, 2007.
Presentation about open and free eduction "the wiki-way", in a collaborative free and open studies taking place in Wikiversity. Presentation given in the Estonian e-University Conference 2009: School - from teaching institution to learning space.
WiserEarth is a free, international, collaborative platform and searchable directory launched in 2007 that connects over 105,000 nonprofit organizations, social businesses, and 61,000 members working on social and environmental initiatives. It functions like Wikipedia, allowing members to create and edit content, and provides tools for users to add, find, connect with resources, jobs, organizations, solutions, events and people in order to strengthen collaboration around solving world problems. The document promotes volunteering with WiserEarth's efforts to help social and environmental changemakers in China connect through translation, community management, organizing local gatherings, and networking roles.
WiserEarth.org is the global social network for sustainability. The network is searching for volunteers in China (and around the world) to help translate and grow the wiser community in order to create a more sustainable world.
- The document discusses Wikipedia and its Wikimedia sister projects, noting that Wikipedia receives hundreds of millions of visitors each month, making it one of the top 10 most visited websites globally.
- It highlights opportunities for the city of Bristol to contribute content like images, videos, and documents about its history and attractions to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, which could help increase tourism by exposing more people internationally to Bristol.
- The speaker challenges Bristol to coordinate a city-wide effort to contribute content in celebration and recognition of Wikipedia's 10th anniversary, which would establish the city as pioneers in the innovative use of social media.

5. Wikipedia – the free encyclopedia,
started in January 2001, as a free
online encyclopedia written by its
users.
As of July 2008, Wikipedia had
approximately 11 million articles in
256 languages, including Hebrew and
Arabic.
The Hebrew Wikipedia started in July
2003, and now includes about 80,000
articles.
7. The Wikimedia Foundation was established in June
2003, in Florida, USA, by Jimmy Wales, one of the
founders of Wikipedia. The Wikimedia Foundation is
responsible for managing the various Wikimedia
projects in all different languages.
While the Wikimedia Foundation
promotes the projects and caters
for their infrastructure, each
project has its own community of
users, which maintains the
project and takes decisions about
FOUNDATION
policy.
8.
9. Today, the Wikimedia projects include
several knowledge resources in
different languages, and a repository
of images and media files. All of them
are available for free and under free
licenses, and are the fruit of voluntary
collaborative work.
10. The Wikimedia projects are powered by the
Media-Wiki software, designed especially for
them, but also used for many other purposes.
The software, like the content of the Wikimedia
projects, is available for free under the GFDL
free license.
13. Wikimedia projects in Hebrew have brought
together many enthusiastic contributors, who
now make up a significant community of free
content adherents.
This community is
growing rapidly as
shown in the
increasing number of
participants in the
community meet-ups.
14. Wikimedia Israel was established in June 2007, as an Israeli
nonprofit organization, recognized by the Wikimedia
Foundation as one of its chapters. Other Wikimedia
chapters exist in Argentina, Australia, Austria, the Czech
Republic, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, the
Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland,
Taiwan and the United Kingdom.
15. ישראל
Wikimedia Israel set its goal to promote knowledge
and education in Israel by gathering, creating and
distributing free content.
Since its creation, Wikimedia-Israel has been
cooperating with other Israeli organizations that share
its principles, and initiated educational free-content
projects.
16. The Israel Free Image Collection Project
A joint initiative of Wikimedia-Israel, the Israel
Internet Association and the Center for
Educational Technology. It is meant to create a
large pool of digital-format images relating to
the history of Israel, or depicting places of
distinction. The images would be as free of
copyright limitations as possible. The public will
be free to contribute new images, and browse or
copy any of the images stored within.
17. The new Israeli copyright law
Wikimedia Israel has been
closely following the
legislative procedure
aiming to create a new
Israeli copyright law, and managed to
prevent some of aggravations which
were to be introduced in the new law,
particularly the idea to retroactively
prolong the copyright period of
photographs. ישראל
18. The Computer to every Child project
Wikimedia Israel has been cooperating with
the Israeli Coputer to every Child project,
discussing an idea to add an off-line version
of recommended articles from the Hebrew
Wikipedia to the content supplied on the
hard disks of the 6000 computers
distributed annually.
