Giotto, Masaccio, Donatello, Brunelleschi, and other early Renaissance artists in Italy began developing new techniques like linear perspective and realistic human anatomy in their paintings and sculptures between the 13th-14th centuries. Some of their most famous works included Giotto's Lamentation fresco, Brunelleschi's dome for Florence Cathedral, Masaccio's Holy Trinity fresco, and Donatello's bronze David statue, which marked a shift away from Gothic art towards more naturalistic Renaissance styles.
