3. 7 STEPS TO LIVING A
DISEASE-FREE LIFE
STEP NO. 1 - WATER
4. WATER
• Water is the solvent in which the solids in the body are
dissolved
• Percentage of water content of the body is 75% in the
male and 65% in the female. The solids account for 25% of
the body.
• There are 45 liters of water in the body.
• Water is distributed inside all the cells of the body. Each
cell is 75% water and 90% in the extracellular fluid.
• Percentage water in the organs: brain 83%, kidneys 82%,
heart 79%, lungs 80%, bones 22% and blood 90%.
5. CONT…
• There are about 100 trillion cells in the human
body.
• The quality of the water inside the cells is
dependent on the quality of the water in the
extracellular space.
• Waste products of metabolism from inside the cell
are usually passed out into the extracellular space
and then into the blood for elimination by any of
the following organs – the kidneys, lungs, sweat
glands of the skin and the colon.
• Rate of elimination of the wastes is key.
6. DEHYDRATION
A state of having less than the optimum quantity of
water in the body. More often than not, this is due to
inadequate ingestion of water.
Note: By the time you are thirsty, you are already
dehydrated.
66% of the water in the cell is lost when the body is
dehydrated. 26% is lost from the extracellular fluid
and 8% from the blood.
7. EFFECTS OF
DEHYDRATION
Slow and sluggish circulation,
Accumulation of toxic & acidic wastes in and around the cells.
Reduction in the amount of oxygen, nutrients ,vitamins and minerals
getting to the cells.
Carbon dioxide, acidic wastes and others accumulate.
Water content of the cells reduce and the cells become congested.
The pH of the cells and tissues become acidic, instead of alkaline.
If this state of dehydration continues for a long time {which is usually
the case,} one type of chronic degenerative disease or the other will
set in. This includes pain anywhere in the body, arthritis,
hypertension, diabetes, ucers and chronic colonic problems,
asthma, cancers etc.
8. RECOMMENDATIONS
• In order to ensure fast elimination of the acidic
and toxic wastes from the body and a healthy
living, you must do the following:
• Set times for drinking water, just as you do for
your meals. Do not wait until you are thirsty. As
you grow older the thirst sensation begins to fail.
• Drink 8 to10 glasses of water.
• Drink alkaline water. LASENA NATURAL ALKALINE
WATER, is highly recommended
9. DIET;
LIVING FOOD Vs DEAD FOOD
Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food
Hippocrates. 370AD - 460AD
• MEDICINE IS NOT HEALTHCARE
• FOOD IS HEALTHCARE
• MEDICINE IS SICKCARE.
You are what you eat and drink.
What you eat and drink cause up to 90% of
diseases that afflict man.
Hippocrates also said: If we could give every individual
the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too
little and not too much, we would have found the
safest way to health.
STEP 2
10. GOD’S RECOMMENDED DIET IS
THE GENESIS 1: 29 DIET;
And GOD said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon
the face of the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree
yielding seed, to you it shall be for meat. - Genesis 1: 29
• This diet is made up of vegetables, herbs, fruits, nuts, grains and
seed.
• These also contain the macronutrients like carbohydrates, fats and
proteins
• They also contain vitamins, minerals, fibre, enzymes, phytonutrients,
etc.
• Vitamins are the antioxidants and immune system boosters.
• Minerals function as co-factors to the enzymes in the metabolic
reactions that occur in the body. Secondly, they facilitate certain
physiological processes such as muscle contraction, production and
transportation of hormones and neurotransmitters etc.
• Fibres are intestinal cleansers [insoluble fibre]. The soluble fibre bind
to the chemicals and heavy metals inside the body and render them
suitable for elimination.
11. • The phytonutrients are plant chemicals that play a lot of preventative
and healing roles in the body.
• The enzymes function as catalysts in the numerous digestive and
metabolic processes that take place in the body.
• TYPES OF FOOD TO AVOID
• All kinds of refined and processed food.
• Animal protein and fat [red meat, fatty portions of meat].
• The 4 whites you should avoid: white flour, white sugar, white rice and
white salt.
• MSG Products: ajinomoto, Maggi, Knorr etc.
• Caffeinated soft drinks, alcohol and sugar in beverages.
• Sweeteners like splenda and aspartame Refined and processed food.
They contain chemicals such as preservatives, colourants etc.

12. DETOXIFICATION
Detoxification is the physiological elimination of acidic and toxic
wastes from the body.
SOURCES OF THE TOXIC WASTES
• Direct from the polluted air and water. Eg. Carbon monoxide
from vehicles and factories, cigarette smoke, etc.
• From all the metabolic processes that occur in the body. Such
wastes as acids, toxins and free radicals.
• The nature of the food we eat; fast foods, overcooked food,
etc. Additives like hydrogenated fats cooked at very high
temperatures.
• Chemicals and heavy metals from fertilizers, herbicides,
• Pesticides, fungicides and other chemicals used in agriculture.
STEP 3
13. CONSEQUENCIES OF THESE WASTES
• The wastes render the body pH acidic.
• Accumulated wastes suppress the immune system.
• Acidic wastes predisposes people to developing one chronic
degenerative disease or the other.
• Acidic wastes are usually stored in fat cells. The more the
wastes, the more the fat cells required to store them. This is
the cause of obesity. Heavy metals such as lead and aluminium
have been implicated as the cause of Alzheimer's disease.
14. METHODS OF
DETOXIFICATION
• Avoid contamination. Watch what you eat and
choose your source of water carefully and wisely.
Stay away from congested streets when
excercising and avoid staying near factories.
• Drink enough water daily and eat lots of
vegetables, seeds, nuts and fruits.
• Use of supplements, for detoxification and to
support the health of the liver.
• Hydrotherapy and use of saunas to generate
sweating. Lasena Water Sauna and Spa.
• Exercise.
15. EXERCISE
What is a sedentary lifestyle?
A sedentary lifestyle is when someone spends a lot of time sitting
down or sleeping and not moving about much or a state of
complete idleness.
Consequences
•Slowing down of the circulation.
•Accumulation of acidic wastes.
•pH becomes acidic.
•The heart becomes weak, giving way to hypertension and its
complications.
•Weakness and general feeling of malaise.
•Can lead to cancer and any other chronic degenerative disease,
later in life.
•Obesity.
STEP 4
16. BENEFITS OF EXERCISE
•Neutralizes the acidity.
•Reduces blood pressure.
•Stabilizes blood sugar level in diabetes. The body becomes more
sensitive to insulin.
•Increases lymphatic flow.
•Increases sweating and helps detoxify the body.
•Prevents obesity.
•Prevents cancer and other chronic degenerative diseases.
18. STRESS AND STRESS
MANAGEMENT
Stress is the impact of negative forces from within and without on
an individual’s mental and physical and emotional wellbeing.
An individual’s response to stressors [stress-causing situations]
generally affects him/her directly or their environment.
The response may affect the individual’s overall wellbeing and
fitness, nutritional status, psychological fitness and soundness of
mind, his spiritual standing and the amount of rest and sleep the
individual gets.
STEP 6
19. STRESSORS
•Water [insufficient water which leads to an acidic state] is the
number 1 stressor.
•Money [lack of money or never having enough].
•Job [when you are not satisfied or never fulfilled].
•Relationships, especially marital, childlessness, third party
involvement in the marriage. Others include demands from the boss
in the place of work or lecturer in the university.
•Disappointments from parents, a spouse or friends.
•Stress of Lagos traffic.
20. SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
OF STRESS
Organs that are affected in stress are:
•Nerves
•Muscles and joints
•The heart
•Stomach and intestines
•The pancreas
• Reproductive organs
Behavioral Symptoms
Excessive eating, too much sleep(or too little), dependence on
alcohol, narcotic drugs and cigarettes.
Pacing and nail biting.
Emotional Symptoms
Restlessness, irritability, agitation, short temper, moodiness,
feeling of loneliness and depression.
21. Cognitive Symptoms
Loss of memory, poor judgment, anxiety, constant worrying and
inability to concentrate.
Physical Symptoms
Aches and pains, diarrhoea or constipation, nausea, anorexia,
stomach ulcer, dizziness, chest pain, fast heart beat, loss of libido
(low sex drive) and frequent colds.
22. Management of Stress
Avoid stressors that can be avoided. Drink sufficient water daily.
Add value to your acedemic status so as to get a better job and earn
more money. In the uni or place of work, ensure that you work hard
enough so as not to be intimidated.
On the other hand, you should as much as possible avoid
exhaustion. You need to rest sufficiently, sleep when it is time to do
so and go on leave annually [don't swap your leave for money].
For the unavoidable stressors, counsel by an expert should be able
to help achieve a psychoemotional and mental balance.
Seek counsel from counselors and join therapy groups.
These also respond to sleep so have sufficient sleep always.
Avoid chemical drugs as much as possible. Go on natural food,
according to Genesis 1: 29 and supplements.
Prayers help a lot. They bring the peace of GOD. Phillipians 6: 7 and
8. People who are stressed need understanding, support and love
from their family, loved ones and friends.
