They received a grant to build a fiber optic backbone that provided high-speed internet to rural areas, but many residents still lack access. The commission formed a Rural Broadband Advisory Committee of county representatives to address this issue. They are conducting a regional broadband needs assessment to identify unserved areas, determine the costs to provide service, and apply for state and federal funds to close connectivity gaps in these rural communities. The goal is to partner with internet providers and make the entire region "broadband ready."

A phone survey was conducted of 900 Utah residents to understand broadband internet uptake. The survey found that most respondents had broadband at home. For those without it, the top reasons were cost and lack of availability in the area. Most respondents were willing to pay $25-50 per month for broadband. Internet access was most common several times per day via cable modem or DSL services. Since getting connected, most reported their quality had improved or stayed the same. The survey provided data to evaluate assumptions about the impact of cost and availability on broadband uptake across different regions in Utah.

Several international organizations are working to address this divide through initiatives focused on education, employment, safety regulations, and encouraging policies that promote inclusion.
Afrigap history vision and objectives
The AfriGAP was conceived as a follow-up to the 2011 Dakar Forum on governance assessments in Africa. 97.9% of Forum participants expressed interest in an online platform to connect stakeholders. The top three desired features were easy access to assessment methodologies, relevant news/events, and mentoring schemes. Respondents felt it was important to showcase African leadership in governance assessments and bridge constituencies like civil society and governments. An objective of the AfriGAP is to promote locally-produced governance data in Africa for better policymaking and accountability by facilitating dialogue between data producers and users and offering a platform for collaboration between organizations involved in governance assessments.

MEASURE Evaluation worked in Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone to build resilient health information systems following the Ebola outbreak. Advisors embedded in Ministries of Health helped develop strategic and operational plans for health information systems and build institutional capacity. This included implementing DHIS 2, developing master facility lists, and integrating various health information sub-systems. Challenges included poor infrastructure, interoperability issues, and lack of resources and leadership. Recommendations focused on assessments, interoperability, strengthening capacity and coordination.

The document discusses strengthening the health and population sector's routine health information system and monitoring and evaluation system in Bangladesh. It proposes developing a comprehensive but modular electronic RHIS to build capacity and facilitate a phased national rollout. The application showed potential to build local capacity and develop media and IT skills sustainably without relying on toll-free services, as health workers were highly motivated by the rewards.
