Renowned English scientist, inventor and healer, Dr Harry Oldfield will present many of
his discoveries in the therapeutic use of natural energy and demonstrate and discuss the
instruments he has invented for gentle, non-invasive analysis and rebalancing of the
body’s energy field, the product of over three decades of pioneering work.
His talk will include an overview on the history of his research from Kirlian photography
to the present day including
• Techniques with crystals
• Polycontrast Interference Photography (PIP) – which produces
computerised images of the body and the environment’s energy
fields
• Oldfield Microscope – which allows observation of living
specimens, increases contrast enhancement and clarity of image
Dr Oldfield is the author of books on Kirlian photography and energy medicine, a
Homeopathic physician, Honorary Visiting Professor of complementary medicine in
many universities around the world and a Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society. His
inventions have been used in hospitals, clinics and private practices in Great
Britain, Europe, India, China, Australia, North America and Canada with
remarkable results. Harry pursues environmentally-friendly solutions.

From Kirlian Photography to
Polycontrast Interference Photography—PIP
Harry Oldfield, scientist, inventor, and UK biologist turned energy-field researcher, developed his
imaging system, Polycontrast Interference Photography (PIP) in the 1980s. He perfected this
application after many years of research into Kirlian photography, which captures changing patterns
of light energy emanating from all living things, (including humans, animals, plants), and even from
crystals.
His original research with Kirlian photography focused on the phantom leaf effect: organic potato
leaves were set up for Kirlian photography but then the leaves were removed from the stem. In many
cases the energy outline showed the whole leaves, ie including the portions removed, thus showing a
natural energy field corresponding to the physical structure and molecules of the leaf.
Above: Leaves of an organic potato plant (left) are set up for Kirlian photography. In the picture on the right we see
the energy field of the potato plant with all the leaves removed from the stem! The energy outline still shows all the
leaves but the central stem is the only physical part of the plant actually remaining.
Using his PIP technology Harry subsequently found that this effect occurs with people, ie
arm/hand/finger amputees. In his PIP scans of people with missing limbs there have been images
showing a phantom limb.
Above left: Control of amputee Above right: Amputee seen left torso side on,
showing energy patterns emanating from
his arm amputated well above the elbow joint
PIP instrumentation can distinguish between many different grades or qualities of light. The
innovation is in the computer program, and the end result is the image on the computer screen shown
as pulsating bands of colour and light, showing variations in energy fields in three dimensions.
PIP image of a man whose back is giving problems.
Energy stress patterns flow across the back.
Harry found that PIP photographs of the human tend to correlate closely with two healing systems
that have been known for thousands of years. In all cases, there was graphical representation of
energetic eddies and clusters similar to the chakras described in Ayurvedic medicine, and of the
meridian energy pathways described in traditional Chinese medicine. At last here was a non-invasive
tool that depicted visually the state and movement of force-fields.
Below we can see PIP images which depict the classical Chinese meridians flowing down an arm,
the energy of a healer’s fingers,
and in an example of environmental work we can clearly see differences between
a control picture (left) and PIP picture (right) of the energy forces of Niagara Falls.
The Oldfield Microscope
Dr Oldfield was awarded the Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society for his ground-breaking advances
made in developing the Oldfield Microscope which stains specimens with light instead of chemicals. This
enables the examination of live specimens without the need to first kill and stain them with chemicals.
The Oldfield Microscope uses one or more diffraction gratings to select specific frequencies from a white
light source, enhancing both resolution and depth of focus.
