Cover Luigi’s current job searching, Colotti’s 6 months ago, etc. Feel
I like to think our professional careers are much like drinking in college. You start by drinking what is cheap and readily available but as the years progress you go from drinking that cheap beer to a fine whiskey
.
After his story we can go into the laws, this just came to us while brainstorming.
The journey must be intentional or you will not succeed. By this I mean you have to want to grow personally and professionally, it is the major milestone and honestly the biggest step. You need that intentionality to drive to learn more and this is the first law before any other law can be brought into the mix.
Audience
Where do you want to go?
Pregnant pause
What is the furtherst you can see yourself going?
There are many factors that are going to get in our way as we try different things
Growth Gap Traps that prevent you from reaching your potential:
The knowledge gap - you don't know HOW to grow, the school of hard knox is random, it's better to create a plan
The timing gap - it's not the right time to begin. The law of dimension intent, the longer you wait to do something you should do now the greater the odds you never actually do it.
The mistake gap - I'm afraid of making mistakes. What would you attempt to do if you knew you would not fail. Expect to make mistakes every day
The perfection Gap - I have to find the best way before I start. If you want to see more, then get moving!
The inspiration gap - I don't feel like doing it. Just do it, I just can't get myself motivated. Motivation is not going to strike you. It's not something else anyone can bestoy on you. Forget it, just do it! Do it without motivation, and after you start doing it, then motivation helps you KEEP doing it. Whatever it is you know you should do, just go and do it.
The comparison gap - Others are better than I am.
The expectation gap - I thought it would be easier than this. Preparation + attitude + opportunity + action = Luck. You can always change your direction overnight.
Making the transition
Fear of change will kill you (Who moved my cheese)
Ask audience who is afraid of change.
Do you embrace change or do you run from it?
It’s how you respond to change both initially and afterwards
Bezos….you will code to a common API or you will be fired…
Fight, Flight, or Freeze….
You are all sitting here wondering how can you apply the law of intentionality, It starts now, first and foremost identify that fear that has been holding you back, once you do that schedule time, stop making excuses and set the time up.
Luigi – I relate to this, I have been “working” on a couple certifications for years and honestly the inspiration gap has been my weight holding me down. Something Cody Bunch credits me saying to him one day was to take both feet, put them together and jump, just jump into what you want to do. That is why I am doing my own business now.
Chris how have you applied this law?
Chris – Short story of how he relates to the Law or an example
Never stop asking why
Continue to be curious and cultivate curiosity. It's the key to being a life long learner. This people possess a thirst for knowledge. Continually ask why. It's the primary catalyst for self motivated learning.it helps a person to think and expand possibilities beyond the ordinary. It leads to discovery and beyond the ordinary. Cross bridges in your imagination before anyone else has.
Are they mentally lazy? Does life become so routine? Can those people wake up their minds and become more curious?
We all understand dealing with physical pain. You have to wait for healing process to complete….you can manage it differently with help from dr’s or medication
Managing pain in work is different..
Everyone has a pain file. We all have our share of negatives and bad experiences. Pain of bad health, pain of hard decisions, pain of experience, Pain of financial loss, Pain of relationship losses (losing friends that do not want to grow), Pain of not being #1, The pain of traveling, The pain of responsibility - Let discomfort to be the catalyst for growth
The Bob’s, we all know them, some of us have encountered them….talk about layoffs, work force reduction, group re-orgs
Survey….Who has been part of a re-org, layoff, or reductions?
How do you respond to bad experiences? Every problem introduces a person to themselves. We get to know ourselves a little better when we encounter bad experiences. Pain prompts us to face who we are. What we do what that defines who we become.
You can become stronger if you manage bad experiences well. How people face their problems is what separates those that thrive from those that survive.
You need to believe you are worth the effort to yourself. You need to cultivate the seeds of success within you. Always add value to people. People fail due to low self esteem. They don't believe in themselves that they can blossom.
You need to believe you are worth the effort to yourself. You need to cultivate the seeds of success within you. Always add value to people. People fail due to low self esteem. They don't believe in themselves that they can blossom.
You need to believe you are worth the effort to yourself. You need to cultivate the seeds of success within you. Always add value to people. People fail due to low self esteem. They don't believe in themselves that they can blossom.
Celebrate the small wins….testing something new, trying a new technology
Story or example for small wins….for jobs, just getting the interview maybe?
We’re onto “Whoever”
Certifications, process, elaborate on processes
Summarize that each battle wins the war even if you loose some along the way
If you believe you are worthless then you will never add value to yourself. Your desire will be limited by the lid on your potential. If your desire is a 10 but your esteem is a 5 you will never perform at a 10.
The value we place on ourselves is usually the value others place on us. Be more concerned with what you think of yourself. If you put a small value on yourself the world will not raise the price
Life has may intersections to go up or down. we can exchange something we have for something we don't. Tradeoffs are available to us throughout life. Everyone makes trades throughout life. Successful people make good tradeoffs. When you stop making good tradeoffs you will hit a dead end. See tradeoffs for opportunities for growth. Too often we make life more difficult due to bad choices or lack of a choice due to fear. You don't always get what you want but you always get what you choose.
People cling to the same thing for fear of something worse
You need to let go of certain things to grow.
Are you willing to give up salary, security, friends, this things that will take you closer to your potential?
