1) A Chinese steel company (CSC) approved two investment projects, spending $5.6 billion to overhaul a blast furnace and $1.4 billion to build a 100,000 tonne per year ethanol plant. 2) The ethanol plant will use fermentation technology from LanzaTech (USA) to produce ethanol from waste gases. A demonstration plant was successful. 3) The ethanol plant will be built on land purchased from another company near Xiao Gang Zhong Lin Road. It will start production in 2-3 years and be built in two phases to eventually produce 100,000 tonnes of ethanol annually, for use as gasoline additive and industrial ethanol.
