Anyone can pick up a copy of Frontpage or any other such quot;design softwarequot; and
have a go. And they do. I have no problem with anyone building his or her own site.
Quite the contrary, I applaud anyone who wants to learn how to build and maintain
their own site. However, when a website designer does not know why errors occur,
or does not know that the sites he or she builds are not browser and platform
compatible ‐ and they are charging people for their work, who will recompense you
for the lost sales arising from the designer's lack of knowledge?

Development of any web project is one fundamental key issue which needs to be got
right from the get go. Standards imposed by the W3C and other independent
governing bodies of the Internet have led to quality control and validation
techniques that are free to all, but not all use.
You cannot take the risk of not validating your website code. Search engines such as
Google, Yahoo and others thrive on seeing validated code in your website. More
often that not, if the code you are using is not validated, then your site will be
ignored. The search engine ‘bots’ will not index your site correctly, and you may find
that your ranking on your favoured search engine diminishes as a result. With
companies spending thousands of pounds on generating better ranking with search
engines, can you really afford not to have validated code that the W3C and Google,
Yahoo and others accept?
