The Product Stewardship Institute is a non-profit founded in 2000 with over 45 state and 100 local government members that works to advance safe and environmentally-friendly disposal of unused prescription drugs. Sierra Fletcher from the institute discussed the growing problem of improper drug disposal and different recommendations to address it, including expanding take-back programs, implementing pharmaceutical extended producer responsibility laws, and potentially amending federal legislation to allow a wider range of collection methods. However, more work is still needed to determine what regulations would be required and how to implement source reduction strategies.

Social BPM - Combining social Web and BPM for improving enterprise performance
Social BPM fuses BPM practices with social networking applications, with the aim of enhancing the enterprise performance by means of a controlled participation of external stakeholders to process design and enactment. The purpose of this participation is the exploitation of the operational value of the company, hidden within the personal behaviours and relations. In the presentation we address three main points:
- The motivation and requirements associated with Social BPM
- The concrete objectives that organizations can earn in terms of efficiency improvement, including: exploitation of weak ties and implicit knowledge; increase of transparency in process execution; user participation and engagement; distribution of decision and activity execution; feedback collection; and knowledge sharing
- The status of the Social BPM offer and the coverage of the above objectives
For each objective, pros and cons of the various solutions are discussed and concrete examples are used for describing the problem. Practical and innovative techniques are introduced too (e.g., crowdsearching, gamification, social network analysis, extended BP modeling notations, agile cycles for process improvement).

Section 4.1External Analysis of Dominant Environmental Driving Forces
Introduction
This chapter discusses the importance and the components of an environmental analysis as
part of the strategic planning process for an HCO. This chapter introduces an external analysis
that uses a PESTLE framework for identifying the elements of the external environment. This
chapter then reviews legislation and governmental initiatives, which have a dramatic impact
on HCOs. Next, “Porter’s five forces” model, which also is known as the five forces model of
industry analysis, is explained and applied to an HCO. Finally, this chapter discusses internal
and external analyses and the use of a SWOT analysis, followed by an examination of how
resources, costs, and distinctive competencies affect strategic planning efforts.
4.1 External Analysis of Dominant
Environmental Driving Forces
It is vital for an HCO to gauge the external environment within which it operates. This, in fact,
should be standard practice for all organizations. Virtually anything that can happen prob-
ably will happen, eventually. We truly have no certainty about what things will be like in the
future, in spite of our attempts to make predictions or forecasts. Still, an HCO cannot afford to
let generalized eventualities and uncertainties keep it from being active in strategic planning,
and changing in response to environmental demands.
PESTLE is an acronym to describe the elements of the external environment that impact
an HCO’s planning process. These elements require specific analysis about their current or
potential impact on the organization’s planning and operations. PESTLE stands for politi-
cal, economic, sociocultural, technological, legal and eco-environmental forces, which exert
strong influences on how an HCO crafts and executes strategic plans. Figure 4.1 shows the
elements of PESTLE.
These elements also interact with each other to create additional ramifications. Consider

The Strengths of the Affordable Care Act in Florida
There has been an introduction of subsidies in healthcare in Florida, and this is courtesy of the Affordable Care Act. Subsidies in the field basically makes buying of health insurance less expensive for people who live in Florida who are eligible for the subsidies. (The United States Supreme Court also ordered for the implementation of 80/20 rule in all the states, including Florida. The ruling implies the 80 percent of the premium dollars and individual from Florida spend on healthcare instead of spending on the administrative costs. Another strength of Obamacare is that Medicaid is at the moment more inclusive for many citizens in the state. The state has also made it easier for the dependents to stay longer under their parents’ healthcare plan. Some of the youths may be under the medical cover of their parents up to the age of 26 years old. Lastly, Florida state has also implemented the act such that there are no preexisting denials or surprise cancellations of a plan in the healthcare system. Insurance firms lacks the mandate of cancelling the policy due to an applicant’s mistake during the application process (Rozensky, 2014).
The Weaknesses of the Affordable Care Act in Florida
Despite the fact that the Affordable Care Act has had a lot of strengths in Florida, there are also some weaknesses experienced. The healthcare cost has not decreased for every individual. A number of private plans had to be cancelled since they did not comply with the requirements of Obamacare in the state (Barakat et al., 2017). Those individuals that were negatively affected (from this mess were (The tone is not academic) forced to stop and adopt a new health insurance making them to pay more for a plan which includes benefits like maternity care that may not be their preference. Secondly, shopping for coverage might be complicated to some level. With some confusion that surrounds the rollout of the Obamacare and the market place, more alternatives to decide on, difficulties with the websites and limited enrollment periods, shopping for health coverage may be complicated to some level. Moreover, those citizens who are not insured might be faced with huge tax penalties. It is quite unfortunate that Florida dwellers are only able to see these huge amounts of tax .
