Four candles representing peace, faith, love, and hope were burning slowly. Peace's flame diminished and disappeared as nobody could keep it lit. Faith said it was no longer essential and blew out. Love said people had abandoned it and forgot to love others, then it disappeared. A child came in and saw the three candles unlit, crying that they should have stayed lit. The fourth candle, hope, said as long as its flame remained, it could relight the others. The child took the candle of hope and relit the others.
