8. Aurora Király (b. 1971) has played from early on in her career a crucial role in the acknowledgement of Romanian women artists
and has established herself as one of the most important artists in Romania. Working with photography, textile art and
installation, her most recent works question the sources or artistic inspiration and the spaces of creation seen through a
feminist lens.
In her latest series on which she worked during the spring lockdown, Soft Drawings, the artist collates images of
depression, isolation and anxiety into patterns of house dresses and soft, felt materials in the search for balance.

13. Megan Dominescu employs traditional rug-hooking and knitting techniques in daring and sharp social commentaries on
contemporary lifestyles as shown in the ubiquitous advertisements online and on the streets.
The 90s Xanax advert is reinterpreted in Megan Dominescu’s rugs as a truism of our contemporary lives. Even in her latest
tapestry of the Mediterranean endangered wildlife, ”thank you thank you thank you”, she highlights the ever-present
predicaments of a society engulfed in the need to consume and forget.
Megan Dominescu (b. 1997) lives and works in Bucharest, Romania. She graduated from the Department of Painting at the National
University of the Arts, Bucharest in 2018. Born in the Netherlands to Romanian and American parents, Megan grew up in
Washington, D.C. and later moved to Bucharest, Romania. Megan’s clashing background is a strong inspiration in her practice.
Using humour as a weapon, Megan’s work is focused on observing and documenting the absurd, shedding light on cultural
contrasts and celebrating the bizarre. Her recent shows include Tapestry in Augmented Reality, One Night Gallery at Carusel,
Bucharest (2020), Use Me, White Cuib Cluj-Napoca (2020), In Midst of the Worst, the Best of Times, litost Gallery, Prague
