This document discusses three emerging technologies: micro-credentials/badges, gamification, and MOOCs. It describes how each facilitates learning and their expected impact. The author plans to use badges in their existing gamified training app, HuskyHunt, to measure effects on game completion and participation. Two versions of the app will be tested - one with badges and one without. The author hypothesizes that clearly defined badges will provide motivation and increase completion rates by giving feedback and recognition of achievements. The document provides context for how the author's practicum project aims to incorporate badges into HuskyHunt and evaluate their impact on engagement and learning.
