The document discusses the Old Covenant system of offerings and sacrifices, including burnt offerings, grain offerings, fellowship offerings, sin offerings, and guilt offerings. It notes that under the Old Covenant, sacrifices had to be continually repeated and could not fully take away sins. The document then contrasts this with the new covenant established by Jesus Christ, where he offered himself as an unblemished sacrifice through his blood, obtaining eternal redemption in one sacrifice that cleanses our conscience from sin.
This document presents a vision for a church that embraces diversity and brings people together. It discusses how God wants the church to be an "uncomfortably diverse" community where all have a place and a voice. The document references Ephesians to illustrate how Christ destroyed dividing walls and made Jews and Gentiles one new people. The vision is of a church where outsiders feel they belong and where there is plenty of room for all at God's table.
Joining God requires knowing the scope of God's plan, allowing God to be the source of power, and obeying God. God promised to do wonders never done before and drive out enemies to show his power. Joining God means recognizing God as the source of strength and obeying his commands out of love. Completing the work God started requires patience as one continues obeying.
This document contains excerpts from multiple sources discussing serving others and communities. It emphasizes that in God's kingdom, we should focus on others' needs rather than our own by embracing the truths that we are loved unconditionally, valuable, and meant to serve just as Jesus served. When we serve others even at cost to ourselves, we embody the great love that Jesus had in laying down his life for his friends. The success of churches and communities is defined not by their size but by their service to others.

The document summarizes the story of Moses' birth and early life according to the book of Exodus in the Bible. It describes how the Israelites multiplied greatly in Egypt but then a new Pharaoh enslaved them, forcing them to perform hard labor making bricks. This Pharaoh then issued a decree that all Hebrew boy babies be killed by throwing them into the Nile river. Moses was born and his mother hid him for three months, but then placed the baby in a basket in the reeds of the river to save him, where he was discovered and adopted by Pharaoh's daughter.
The document discusses the importance of communion and remembering Jesus. It provides biblical passages about Jesus instituting communion during the Last Supper, saying to do this in remembrance of him. It also quotes a passage from Ernest Hemingway's novel For Whom the Bell Tolls about a man telling a woman that even though they are apart, they are still together through their memories of each other. The summary is that communion allows Christians to remember Jesus and feel his presence even when apart from him, as the most important promise and holy mystery of the faith.
The document discusses Jesus as the good shepherd who cares deeply for his followers. It contrasts Jesus with hired hands who will abandon the sheep when danger arrives. Jesus is willing to sacrifice his life to protect the flock from harm. The document also examines how sheep naturally wander and lack wisdom, highlighting their need for a shepherd's guidance and protection. Psalm 23 is presented as reassuring believers that God provides everything they need as their faithful shepherd.

Ken Fong - Lenten Series - God Of Justice - 090315ebcla
The document discusses the concept of justice from both a childlike and mature Christian perspective. It notes that while children have an innate sense of fairness, humans often manipulate notions of justice for personal gain as they age. The text urges Christians to think clearly about pursuing justice in a way that empowers righteous action, is pleasing to God, and helps those suffering from injustice. It outlines that God is a God of compassion, wrath, and rescue who desires justice for the oppressed and defenders for the vulnerable. Christians are called to seek justice and rescue the oppressed as part of God's plan to shine light into dark places of injustice.
The document discusses the concept of the "Heroes' Journey" which represents both an individual journey of personal transformation as well as a collective journey of renewal. It states that the Heroes' Journey involves experiencing how God will use both the world and other people to save us, as well as how God will use us to help save the world. The document warns that in pursuing God's vision, people may cross an "invisible line" and fall into denial about aspects of themselves that are incompatible with being a heroic apprentice of Christ. It encourages readers to confront any areas of denial and be honest with God.
Sharon Koh - God Provides In His Time - 080706ebcla
The Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the desert, longing for the food they had in Egypt. God promised to provide food for the Israelites in the form of manna and quail. God instructed the people to gather enough manna for each day, except on the sixth day when they should gather extra. On the sixth day, the people found twice as much manna as usual. God told Moses he would test the people to see if they would follow his instructions. The people were unsure of what the manna was at first. Moses told them it was the bread God had given them. God also instructed the Israelites to rest on the Sabbath.
Saul was a Pharisee who zealously persecuted early Christians. While traveling to Damascus to arrest Christians, Saul experienced a vision of Jesus that left him blind. After three days, a disciple named Ananias visited Saul and his sight was restored. Saul was filled with the Holy Spirit and became a follower of Jesus, changing his name to Paul. Paul went on to preach the gospel to the Gentiles, experiencing God's forgiveness and serving as a servant of Christ despite his previous persecution of Christians.
Jephthah was driven away from his family by his half-brothers and lived as an outcast. When the Ammonites attacked Israel, the elders of Gilead sought Jephthah's help. Jephthah agreed to fight the Ammonites if the elders would recognize him as their leader. With the Spirit of the Lord upon him, Jephthah defeated the Ammonites. Unfortunately, Jephthah had made a rash vow that the first thing to greet him upon his return would be sacrificed to the Lord. The first to greet him was his daughter with tambourines. Jephthah was distraught but kept his vow, sacrificing his daughter though she
The document discusses Jesus feeding the 5,000 with five loaves of bread and two fish. It notes that the disciples only thought of one solution which was to send the crowd away, and they did not think to ask Jesus how it could be done. It then discusses themes of being salt and light in the world by letting one's good deeds shine before others. It emphasizes that while not all are called to be preachers or teachers, everyone is still called to serve others with their gifts and to show love, sympathy, compassion and humility towards one another.
YHWH God: Author, Source, Designer & Overseer of LIfeebcla
The document discusses different views on the origin and development of life, including Young Earth Creationism, Intelligent Design, and a perspective of YHWH-led Evolution. It argues that while science has found evidence of evolution, God/YHWH still could have initiated and guided the process, as the ultimate designer, creator, and overseer of all life in the universe. Rejecting all scientific evidence in favor of only a literal biblical interpretation risks discrediting faith, so synthesizing both revelation in nature and scripture is preferable.
The document discusses how God is extravagantly generous with his grace, though humans often view him as miserly or scarce with grace. It references Genesis chapters 3, where Eve sees the forbidden fruit as good despite God's command, and how Paul was forgiven by God's extravagant grace despite persecuting Christians. The sermon argues that those who experience God's abundant forgiveness learn to see him as lavish with grace, while those who see him as stingy experience less of his grace. It encourages the church to reflect God's extravagant grace towards others.
John receives a revelation from God while exiled on the island of Patmos. He is told to write down what he sees and send messages to 7 churches in Asia Minor: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea. John is then called up to heaven where he sees a throne surrounded by 24 elders and 4 living creatures. He witnesses God's glory and power. He then sees a Lamb with 7 horns and eyes standing before the throne that is worshipped.
1. The passage describes Jesus and his disciples being caught in a fierce storm on the Sea of Galilee. The disciples woke Jesus, afraid they would drown, and asked "don't you care if we drown?".
2. Jesus then rebuked the wind and waves, commanding them to be still. The storm immediately stopped.
3. Jesus chided the disciples for their lack of faith, asking why they were afraid when he had power over even nature.
This document contains quotes and passages about slowing down, resting, and living unhurried lives. It discusses how hurry can destroy our souls and keep us from living well. It emphasizes embracing sleep and rest as opportunities for God to work in us and care for us. The document encourages concentrating on God's presence rather than being so busy we cannot hear God's still, small voice. It invites living freely and lightly at the pace of grace.
The Resistance was formed to battle an oppressive empire. Small cells of rebels grew into a movement despite being poorly trained and lacking resources. Against the odds, the Resistance was ultimately victorious.
The document discusses factors that can cause sleep issues like allergies, sickness, injury, hormones, irritants, lack of sleep, screen time, worry, stress, sorrow, loss, hardship, heartbreak and betrayal. It then recommends sleep hours needed for different age groups from newborns to adults. Finally, it discusses the benefits of sleep like consolidating memories, processing emotions, balancing hormones, refreshing brain cells, clearing waste and rejuvenating muscles. It also includes biblical references about God resting on the seventh day and choosing Zion as his resting place.
This document contains excerpts from Genesis describing God's punishment of Adam and Eve for eating the forbidden fruit, including painful labor for women and toiling to produce food from the ground for men. It also contains Bible verses about Jesus' humanity and suffering to redeem humanity, his resurrection as the firstfruits ensuring believers' resurrection and hope, and his offer of rest for the weary.
The document summarizes passages from Genesis, Luke, Romans, and Matthew. It discusses:
1) God clothing Adam and Eve after banishing them from the Garden of Eden for eating from the tree of knowledge.
2) Jesus' death on the cross, with the temple curtain tearing in two and Jesus committing his spirit to God.
3) Romans urging believers to offer their bodies as living sacrifices, which is their true worship.
4) Matthew recounting Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, with crowds laying cloaks and branches on the road and shouting praises to him.
This document discusses several religious topics including Fu and the Great Flood, Noah and the Great Flood, redemption through faith in God, and becoming a co-worker with God. It also briefly mentions things the author hates like getting out of bed, people, and work.
U.S. workers, especially millennials, want meaning and purpose in their work. They seek jobs where they can use their talents daily and have work-life balance. The Bible discusses work as a necessary result of humanity's fall from grace and describes toil as meaningless without finding satisfaction and pleasure in work itself and doing it for God. The document questions what people chase and work for if all their labor will ultimately be for nothing.
1. Adam and Eve hide from God after eating the forbidden fruit from the tree.
2. God questions Adam and Eve about eating the fruit. Adam blames Eve, and Eve blames the serpent.
3. God punishes all three - the serpent will crawl on its belly, Eve will have pain in childbirth, and Adam will have to toil to produce food from the ground. Their relationship with God and each other is broken.
1) The document discusses humanity's creation in God's image and their role of ruling over creation, cultivating the earth.
2) It presents views from early Christian thinkers like Eusebius of Caesarea who saw two types of lives - a perfect spiritual life and a permitted physical life, which wrongly narrowed the scope of calling.
3) The key idea is that work is humanity's divine calling since creation to partner with God and further His purposes through cultivating and creating.
The document describes the creation story from Genesis 1-2 in the Bible. It recounts each of the six days of creation, with God creating light, the sky, land, plants, stars, sea creatures, animals, and finally humans on the sixth day. On the seventh day God rested. It then discusses the concept of work and Sabbath, portraying God as a laborer through metaphors like gardener, shepherd, and potter. Finally, it suggests Christians abide in Christ's presence even during stressful work through humility, patience, and finding identity and worth in God rather than work performance or status.
This document discusses various ways that Christians relate to and experience God, including through obedience to God's laws, surrendering control to God, finding purpose in God, and experiencing God's love. It also discusses Jesus praying that Christians would be united with God and each other to spread God's message. The document lists spiritual disciplines like meditation, prayer, fasting and study that Christians can practice to open themselves to worshipping God. Quotes emphasize that a relationship with God is about pursuing God rather than actions, and that the deepest level of connection is wordless communion.
This document contains multiple Bible passages and quotes on different topics. It discusses God leading the Israelites in the wilderness for 40 years and teaching them to not live on bread alone but every word from God. It also contains a quote about when taken too far, the pursuit of comfort and avoidance of pain can make us spiritual lepers. The document reflects on different ways people relate to God and contains prayers to Jesus for help.

Tiles can represent these to express gratitude and ask for help. Finally, it quotes Psalm 77 about remembering God's deeds and miracles, and meditating on his mighty works.
An angel appeared to shepherds watching over their flocks at night and told them the good news that a Savior, the Messiah, had been born in Bethlehem. The angel was joined by a great company of angels praising God. The shepherds went to Bethlehem and found Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus lying in a manger, just as the angel had said. They spread the word of what they had seen and experienced to all who would listen.
Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked King Herod where the Messiah had been born, as they had seen his star rise and wanted to worship him. Herod consulted Jewish priests and teachers who said the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. Herod secretly met with the Magi and instructed them to find the child and report back so he could also worship him. The Magi followed the star to Bethlehem and found Jesus with Mary. They worshiped him and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, then returned home another way after being warned not to report to Herod.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.
God calls us to a journey of worshiping Him. In this journey you will encounter different obstacles and derailments that will want to sway you from worshiping God. You got to be intentional in breaking the barriers staged on your way of worship in order to offer God acceptable worship.
Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.
Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1

This book is one of the best of the translated ones, for it has a warning character for all those who find themselves in the experience of material life. Irmão X provides a shrewd way of describing the subtleties and weaknesses that can jeopardize our intentions, making us more attentive and vigilant by providing us with his wise pages, reminding us between the lines of the Master's words: "Pray and watch."

3. The angel who talked with me came again, and wakened me, as one is wakened from sleep. 2 He said to me, "What do you see?" And I said, "I see a lampstand all of gold, with a bowl on the top of it; there are seven lamps on it, with seven lips on each of the lamps that are on the top of it. 3 And by it there are two olive trees, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left." 4 I said to the angel who talked with me, "What are these, my lord?" 5 Then the angel who talked with me answered me, "Do you not know what these are?" I said, "No, my lord." 6 He said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, says the LORD of hosts. 7 What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain; and he shall bring out the top stone amid shouts of 'Grace, grace to it!'" 8 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 9 "The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also complete it. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. 10 For whoever has despised the day of small things shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel. "These seven are the eyes of the LORD, which range through the whole earth." 11 Then I said to him, "What are these two olive trees on the right and the left of the lampstand?" 12 And a second time I said to him, "What are these two branches of the olive trees, which pour out the oil through the two golden pipes?" 13 He said to me, "Do you not know what these are?" I said, "No, my lord." 14 Then he said, "These are the two anointed ones who stand by the Lord of the whole earth." - Zechariah 4:1-14

5. Haggai 2:20-23 The word of the LORD came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month: 21 Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I am about to shake the heavens and the earth, 22 and to overthrow the throne of kingdoms; I am about to destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations, and overthrow the chariots and their riders; and the horses and their riders shall fall, every one by the sword of a comrade. 23 On that day, says the LORD of hosts, I will take you, O Zerubbabel my servant, son of Shealtiel, says the LORD, and make you like a signet ring; for I have chosen you, says the LORD of hosts.
