Time span: 2-5 weeks with 3-4 lab visits and use of the laptops Plan: Week 1: Introduction of study, look at US map and a quick look at the web resources in a whole group setting Teach the students how to search and pick out the main points Have the students to pick their state and pin their name on that state on the map Week 2: Start to write information down on handout

Week 3: In KidPix- Make a picture of their flag, state animal or product Save as a jpg and save to F: drive-shared folder under teacher’s name Week 4: Review steps to make PowerPoint slide (Handout provided) Make a 4-6 PowerPoint slide presentation using the following template blue background, Comic Sans MS, and the slide with the bullets on it Slide 1 A trip to State’s name by your name Slide 2 Put in your state slide made in KidPix Slide 3-6 Important facts then list the facts Slide 6 Put in your references Scan in pictures that they drawn on handout as research is completed Make sure editing and animation is completed. Save in shared folder

Send home web publishing permission so the show can be put on the website. Directions for Making PowerPoint Slide Open PowerPoint Choose blank presentation Pick the slide with the gray bar at the top and the bulleted list Format>background>Blue>apply to all Insert >New Slide Click in the title box and write Come along with me to (Your state) and in the bottom box put your name Type in Interesting State facts at the top and then type 6-7 facts in the bulleted list Keep adding slides until all facts from handout are listed. Insert Clipart about your slide. Insert> Picture>ClipArt>right click or file> F Drive>Shared folder and OK Go to Slide show>Slide transition> Pick Box out>slow. 3 seconds> Chime> Apply to all Ask teacher for help to custom animate your slide show Go to Tools and check Spelling
