THE HISTORY OF MEDA
Rooted in the Mission and focused on San Francisco, MEDA’s mission is to strengthen low- and moderate-
income Latino families by promoting economic equity and social justice through asset building and
community development. MEDA has always been at the forefront of bettering the lives of Mission District
families since its founding in 1973 as an asset-building organization, now complemented by advocacy work
for the empowerment of clients.
