including their various policies
• Canada needs to get back to taken care of their own
• Canada needs to focus on being a desirable location for business including
signing the right trade and investment deals, reducing regulations, balance
approach to the environment and the economy
• You cannot tax people to prosperity

immigration with job
opportunity and

immigrants
Refugees No plans to stop cross
borders refugees

controlled
No plans to stop cross
border refugees
What Do Canadians want:
“A new poll suggests half of its respondents want Canada’s current immigration targets lowered in the next year by
cutting the number of family migrants entering the country.”
Source - https://ipolitics.ca/2018/08/21/half-of-canadians-want-immigration-levels-decreased-poll/
Impact:
• Every new immigrant and refugee costs about $15,000 to 25,000 per claimant. If you are adding 310,000 to new immigrants and
another 20,000 refugees the cost to govt initial could - source - https://globalnews.ca/news/3836805/340k-immigrants-per-year-
by-2020-government-unveils-new-immigration-targets/ or https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/refugee-crisis-canada-
august-2018 - Canada has spent between $500M to $1B in 2018 to handle just refugees
• The quota system is also the wrong approach - https://mises.org/wire/why-quota-system-one-worst-ways-regulating-
immigration
• Canada creates on average about 217,000 jobs with vacancies of about 400,000. There are about 500,000 college grads per
year - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/government-policy-education-and-skills-development-canada-april-2018 - There
could be a gap of jobs between 150,000 t0 200,000. So, if people are not working they are usually on support social assistance
Middle Class

CPP and EI
• Supports hike to
CPP

NDP and Liberals believing in taxing the middle class - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/middle-class-
canada-august-2018
• Middle class that is not left behind
Impact:
• Middle class is under attack around the world - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOl37VcG89c
• Liberals and NDP believe in more social policies that do nothing, but hurt the middle class
• 80% of the middle class is paying higher taxes under the Liberal Party of Canada - https://globalnews.ca/news/3769136/taxes-
middle-class-liberals/
Poverty
Issue Liberals CPC NDP
Reduction / Poverty • New plan to
eradicate poverty
• Continue to review
programs that
support getting
people off social
assistance
• Socialist a view that
wealthy and
business need to
pay more in taxes.
What Do Canadians want:
• Canadians would like to see people get off social assistance
Impact:
• There is no new moneys plan for the Liberals anti-poverty plan, but how bad to leverage existing programs. The articles also are missing key areas
like refugees, no discussion how all levels govts need to work together, no mentioned how govt was to ramped up immigration, etc.
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/canada-and-anti-poverty-august-2018 https://www.macleans.ca/opinion/is-the-liberals-federal-poverty-
reduction-strategy-really-a-strategy/
• Child tax benefit never lifted 400,000 kids out of poverty. It may have reduced child poverty by maybe 25,000 -
https://globalnews.ca/news/3628540/canada-child-benefit-program-poverty-rates/
• There is a refugee problem - https://vancouversun.com/opinion/columnists/analysis-many-syrian-refugees-still-struggling-after-12-full-months-in-
canada. The govt has also loss count of the Syrians - https://vancouversun.com/opinion/columnists/douglas-todd-trudeau-government-goes-silent-
on-syrian-refugees Ontario and Quebec are asking for more money to help with the influx refugees - http://www.rcinet.ca/en/2018/03/22/quebec-
bills-federal-government-for-migrants/ and https://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/reevely-ontarios-refugee-claimant-bill-hits-200m-macleod-
testifies-on-the-hill
• Liberals are planning to bring in more immigration when the economy is both sluggish and less competitive -
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/government-policy-education-and-skills-development-canada-april-2018 or
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/government-policy-immigration-canada-november-2017 Canada housing market is becoming more and
more less affordable - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/housing-social-and-affordable-housing-canada-90494557

• 80% of the middle class is paying higher taxes under the Liberal Party of Canada - https://globalnews.ca/news/3769136/taxes-

Economy
Issue Liberals CPC NDP
Veterans Charter • New Charter • Review the charter • No details on veterans policy
Pensions • Liberals made changes to
pensions
• CPC yet to defined their
pension approach to vets
• NDP has not defined their
pension approach to vets
What Do Canadians want:
• Vets want access to benefits and better pensions
• One Vet asked Trudeau about helping Vets. Trudeau told a vet “You are asking for too much money” -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrY0quJNi1g&t=3s
Impact:
• Liberals have failed veterans - https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2018/07/31/canada-veterans-benefits-guy-parent_a_23493279/
• Veterans need access to programs and not rhetoric - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/veterans-affairs-canada-
february-2018
Seniors
Issue Liberals CPC NDP
Guarantee Income Supplement • Liberals have upped the GIS • Under harper made changes
to GIS as well as allow
pension splitting
• Have never defined their
stance on veterans
OAS • Liberals reduced the OAS
from 67 to 65
• CPC believe OAS should 67 • NDP supports OAS at 65
What Do Canadians want:
• Canadians want more pension benefits and GIS support
Impact:
• OAS being changed back to 65 from 67. Yet reports have show Harper got it right with moving the age to 67 -
http://www.ctvnews.ca/business/old-age-security-eligibility-age-should-be-raised-to-67-report-1.3363947 or
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/government-policy-old-age-security-oas-canada
• CPC had GIS improvements in his 2015 Platform - https://www.conservative.ca/harper-announces-new-support-for-
canadian-seniors-2/
• Child Tax benefit is not index to inflation and penalizes if you make more income -
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/study-canada-child-benefit-may-2017
Affordable Housing
Issue Liberals CPC NDP
Social Housing • Back-ended funding on
social housing
• Will review the social
housing policy
• More funding immediately
for social housing
What Do Canadians want:
• Canadians want more affordable housing - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/housing-social-and-
affordable-housing-canada-90494557
Impact:
• Social housing units are over 30+ years old. Social housing was neglected in the 1990s due to austerity measures by Paul Martin -
https://www.policyalternatives.ca/publications/monitor/beware-canadian-austerity-model
• Liberals could have forced more money to social housing from 2006-2010 as the CPC were in a minority government, but chose
not too push social housing
• Harper committed money that is already in the baseline numbers being used by the Liberals. The liberal never discussed CPC
commitment in terms of social housing - https://www.omssa.com/public-affairs/advocacy-government-relations/2015-federal-
election/federal-party-platforms-2015-chart
• Liberals spent very little new moneys on social housing - http://spacing.ca/national/2017/04/05/hulchanski-trudeaus-housing-
spending-smoke-mirrors/
Seniors
Issue Liberals CPC NDP
Military Spending • Promised to meet the NATO
Targets
• Promised to meet the NATO
targets
• No plans to up military
spending
Missions • Liberals are incoherent
where the military will be
deployed
• Will support any missions of
NATO and/or Terrorism
• NDP does not support any
international role by the
Canadian Military
What Do Canadians want:
• Canadians want a military that is properly funded that is not just there for them, but to support international
partners
Impact:
• Trudeau continues to lie and lie when it comes spending, especially the military. https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2018/07/12/trudeau-bills-
pre-existing-defence-plan-as-answer-to-trumps-nato-spending-call.html . This would mean 18% per year growth in military spending starting in 2020.
I look at RPP for the govt and the amount being spent for the next few years is 20B. In fact, the government has also cut about $100M from the
2018-2019 budget - http://www.forces.gc.ca/en/about-reports-pubs-report-plan-priorities/2018-future-oriented-statement-of-operations.page or
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/military-canada-program-analysis-july-2018 or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr2Wruwiweo
or https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/military-canada-program-analysis-june-2018 orhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pxACxwYnAE or
http://www.burnabynow.com/news/national/trudeau-touts-2017-defence-plan-as-answer-to-trump-s-call-for-nato-spending-1.23365497
• Trudeau spending on Military is $20B which he is not doubling.
Foreign Affairs and Policies
Issue Liberals CPC NDP
Global Relations • Liberals support
only social agenda
related issues
• More balance
approach to global
relations
• Social agenda to
global relations
What Do Canadians want:
• A country well respected by the world
Impact:
• Liberal Party of Canada has causes issues with Saudi Arabia, Israel, Japan, Australia, United States and other countries -
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/why-is-canada-failing-on-foreign-policies or
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-its-time-for-the-trudeau-government-to-move-past-its-errors-
and-post/?utm_medium=Referrer:+Social+Network+/+Media&utm_campaign=Shared+Web+Article+Links
• Canada is not back as the Liberal Party of Canada makes with their various statements. In many countries foreign relations have
been set back decades.
• There needs to be more balance approach to foreign affairs and relations.
Environment
Issue Liberals CPC NDP
Climate Change • Support Carbon Tax,
but will keep CPC
emissions
• CPC does not
support carbon tax
and will work at
ways to reduced
emissions
• Believes in higher
carbon tax and
more reduction in
CO2
What Do Canadians want:
• More balance approach with the economy and the environment
Impact:
• Canada is already carbon neutral. One could argue that Canada absorbs more carbon that it produces. Emissions are never
measure as net, but at the gross level - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/environment-tax-carbon-canada-
june-2018
• Canada environmental ranking improve very little under the Liberals - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/taxing-the-
environment-canada-july-2018
• Gerald Butts is pushing failed Ontario green policies on to all provinces - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/climate-
change-the-failed-agenda
