Editor's Notes

  • #4 1Jn 4:1  Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1Jn 4:2  By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; 1Jn 4:3  and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. 1Jn 4:4  You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. In every time and place there are spiritual and earthly powers that oppose the children of God. These forces can be very intimidating but we have overcome them. Not as mighty men and strong ones but as little children.
  • #5 Mark 9: 23  “ ‘If you can’?”said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” 24Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” 25When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,”he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.” The man at the pool of Bethesda - Joh 5:6  When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been a long time in that condition, He *said to him, "Do you wish to get well?” Joh 5:7  The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” While I don’t want to be harsh on this man we can all get to a place where we accept the reason for not overcoming. We have found an acceptable reason why things should just stay as they are. We don’t like our condition but we accept it. A man was arraigned for murder in Los Angeles about 70 years ago. The case against him looked pretty good, but his lawyer thought of an ingenious ploy: In his summing up speech, he said: “Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, you must find my client not guilty of murder if there is the slightest doubt in your minds that he is the murderer. And now I have one final witness. The true murderer is about to walk through the door.” All eyes swung towards the door but no one came in. “You see” the lawyer continued: “there is doubt in your minds about my client’s guilt, otherwise you would not have looked towards the door.” The jury retired to deliberate and came back after an hour with a “Guilty” verdict. The lawyer was beside himself. Before the judge could pass sentence, he sprang up and said “But I proved beyond doubt - that you had a doubt about my client’s guilt.” A shrewd old man in the jury stood up and replied: “As everyone looked towards the door, I watched your client’s eyes. He didn’t look towards the door because he knew no one was coming through. Why? Because he was the guilty one.”
  • #6 Rev 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night. Overcoming the accuser (The Great Red Dragon) Blood of the Lamb – The Substitutionary death of Christ Revelation 13:8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast -- all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world. (NIV) 1 Peter 1:18-20 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. (NIV) It is as if to say, God had taken out an insurance policy before creating mankind. It is a fully comprehensive insurance that pays for all damages no matter what, and even promises to restore back as new?. That insurance is the blood of Jesus. The main strength of the insurance (just like any normal insurance policy) is that it was taken out before the incident. That is why it covers every thing. Jesus' death on the cross was not an after thought by God, rushed through after the event (of mankind falling into sin). No. It had been settled before. 1. Genesis chapter three - An animal is sacrificed and its blood is shed for a person. 2. Exodus chapter twelve - An animal is sacrificed and its blood is shed for a family. Passover slaying of an an animal for each family. 3. Exodus chapter thirty and Leviticus 16: 3-34 - An animal is sacrificed and its blood is shed for a nation. God instructed Moses to sacrifice an animal for Israel. 4. John 1:29 - Jesus, the Lamb of God, is sacrificed, and His blood is shed for the world. God has been revealing the Lamb that was slain throughout History but the Lamb was slain before we even sinned. Testimony – We can not only claim the working of the blood we bear it’s evidence in our lives. Unlike the seven sons of Sceva, powers know that we are in Jesus because we bear the marks of His working. The working of the atonement has real effect in our lives, it is powerful and effective. Sanctification is the activity of God which liberates the Christian from the power of sin. Justification imputes the righteousness of God to man. Sanctification imparts the righteousness of God through man. 2 Cor 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. Not Fearing Death: We have already died and now live in Christ. Like Paul we say “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Phil 1:21
