Tuna guitarist Jorma Kaukonen, FPR is a place where music comes to life and musical fellowships flourish. Kaukonen and many other
musicians teach weekend workshops and share their musical wisdom. This documentary is a glimpse into what Fur Peace Ranch is all

Riot on the Dance Floor: The Story of Randy Now and City Gardens – Steve Tozzi (Columbus, New Jersey) This in your face
documentary features the stark and iconic photography of Thrasher Magazine's Ken Salerno. It is told through an oral history format of in-
depth interviews and archival footage, bringing to life the gritty story of one of New Jersey's most infamous clubs and its larger than life
promoter. Riot on the Dance Floor chronicles the rise of several different music scenes in a venue for underground music that traversed the
entertainment spectrum; from the comedy of Henny Youngman to Nine Inch Nails, New Order to Nirvana. It is also the story of a music
business lifer; a road warrior, part-time musician, radio host and former postal worker who went looking for a place to spin his New Wave
records and ended up building an independent movement out of nothing in Trenton, a city stuck between New York and Philadelphia. It is
the story of the unheard underground and the collective creativity that came out of it: the artists, the writers, the photographers, the ‘zines
and labels. It is the story of musical champions, underdogs and how hoards of misfit kids found an unlikely home and above all, the

A brilliant, innovative film about the origins of cinema and its most famed forefather, Eadweard Muybridge. Over the course of a decade,
filmmaker Thom Andersen animated Muybridge's landmark photographic studies of humans and animals in motion. Interpolated with these
incredible sequences are biographical sections detailing Muybridge's personal and professional struggles, narrated by Dean Stockwell.
Drawing the contrasts between Muybridge's reclusive lifestyle and the explosive public birth of cinema, Eadweard Muybridge is both a film

An irrepressible comedy about a man's quest to flee Cuba during the Mariel Boatlift. Havana, Cuba, 1980. Fidel Castro opens the
floodgates for Cuban emigrants to leave the country, giving priority to criminals and the mentally insane. This was the beginning of the
Mariel Boatlift, an event that would change the lives of 125,000 Cubans and forever change the United States' immigration policies. After
finding out that his wife is pregnant, Ricardo realizes that this is no place to raise a child and comes up with a plan to leave the country

(Fishing) – Tian Zheng (Shandong, China)
This beautiful and insightful documentary focuses on Chinese fishermen and their families. Thousands of fishermen have moved from
Sichuan to Shazikou since the 1980s to take advantage of the fishing there but due to overfishing life in the area is rapidly changing. The
film focuses on the families of two of these fishermen and provides an eye-opening glimpse into their lives. In Mandarin, subtitled. 2014, 52

Girls' Show - David Krantz (New York, New York)
In most American high schools, the biggest event of the year is the homecoming football game, or prom, or graduation, but for the
community of Passaic Valley, NJ, nothing is bigger than Girls' Show. The one-night-only annual event is an high-energy-higher-stakes
competition in categories like dance and cheerleading with the whole community watching. Every year, the residents of Passaic Valley face
one decision: whether to cheer for White or Green at Girls' Show. The rivalry dates back to the 1940’s, long before the fight for women's
equality in athletics found a voice. Girls were banned from school sports, and Girls' Show was created as a forward-thinking symbol of
equality. For this community, Girls' Show is bigger than the Superbowl and this fine documentary does an excellent job of showing us why.

WildLike is a moving feature film that focuses on two strangers who cross paths in the wilderness of the Alaskan frontier. Mackenzie,
portrayed by Ella Purnell (Never Let Me Go), is sent to live in Alaska with her uncle (Brian Geraghty, The Hurt Locker). When their
relationship becomes tense, Mackenzie decides to run away. On her own, she has difficulties finding her way back to her mother in Seattle,

Films by Stan Brakhage
Stan Brakhage is one of the most important figures in 20th-century American experimental film. Over the course of five decades, he
explored a variety of formats, approaches, and techniques that included hand-held camerawork; painting directly onto celluloid; fast cutting;
in-camera editing; scratching on film; and the use of multiple exposures. Inspired by mythology, music, poetry and visual phenomena,
Brakhage sought to reveal the universal in the particular, exploring themes of birth, mortality, sexuality, and innocence. His films are
intensely expressive and lyrical. The films to be screened include new film prints of Mothlight, Fire of Waters, Creation, Prelude: Dog Star

direction-Local Lanes) and go for approximately 1 mile and take the Commercial Avenue exit. Go
up Commercial Ave to the 2nd light and make a left on George Street. Then go about 100 yards
and make a left into the service road (opposite Jones St. on the right) into the Douglass Campus
and park in the University parking lot #69 at the end of the service road. Additional Parking is
available on Jones Street and behind the Douglass Student Center near the corner of
Nichol Avenue and George Street.

direction) and go for 2 1/2 miles to the College Avenue Campus/George Street exit and make a left
at the light at the end of the exit ramp onto George Street, then go to the next light and make a
right onto Hamilton Street, then go to the next light and make a right onto College Avenue. Almost
immediately on your right hand side there is an University Parking Lot (#9) which is made
available for our patrons to park in. Voorhees Hall is adjacent to the Zimmerli Art Museum and is
100 paces across the Voorhees Mall from Parking Lot 9. Patrons can also park in Rutgers Lots #1
(next to Kirkpatrick Chapel) and #16 (next to Murray and Milledoler Hall).

+ Digital Video Festival. Mr. Nigrin has an M.F.A. in Visual Arts/Film and Video from Rutgers University and he is also an award-winning exper-

This workshop is designed to inform participants about the legal and business aspects of the motion picture and entertainment industries. The
workshop welcomes producers, film/videomakers, film/video students, lawyers, as well as amateurs and the general public. Participants will
learn the general rules of law which apply to the production and distribution of motion pictures and other audio-visual productions and will
learn the basic provisions of common contracts used in the motion picture industry. Topics will include: what rights are needed to produce a
motion picture; how to obtain music, film clips and other clearances for audio-visual productions; and typical financing and distribution arrange-
ments.

About the Instructor: Steven C. Schechter is a film industry attorney who practices law in New Jersey and New York and is a lecturer on
entertainment law at Seton Hall University. Mr. Schechter received his law degree from Yeshiva University’s Benjamin N. Cardozo School of
Law in New York City and has a B.A. in Television, Radio, and Film Production from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at
Syracuse University. Prior to establishing his own firm, Mr. Schechter was associated with Chasen & Lichter, a New York entertainment law
firm, where he practiced entertainment, art, and publishing law, and with the legal department of New Line Cinema Corp. in New York City. He
is an advisor to the Rutgers Film Co-op/New Jersey Media Arts Center, Inc.
MASTERING AUDIO FOR GENERAL PRODUCTION WORK Instructor: Mitch Hiller
This course will begin with a tour of the sound chain from sound waves principles, through the basic electrical properties producing audio sig-
nals and finally the digital encoding processes. Microphones will be discussed with respect to their many types and basic placement con-
cepts. Signal levels and proper interfacing will be examined using various examples. We will allow individual questions and interests to partly
guide the direction of certain course material, as seems appropriate, to provide a springboard to address many related subjects including bal-
anced lines, noise control, reading meters, troubleshooting, a basic no math intro to the decibel, gain staging, etc.

About the Instructor: Mitch Hiller is a graduate of The Institute Of Audio Research and has been teaching basic and advanced audio principles
for 20 years. Mitch consults in areas of live sound reinforcement, studio troubleshooting & design and multi-track recording of live events.
Mostly, he works in his recording studio with musicians and songwriters as a tracking, mixing & mastering engineer or co-producer.
