This document summarizes development funding for Schmid College at Chapman University in FY 2015-2016, including several endowed scholarships, research grants, and donations for facilities. Notable donations include $1.6 million for STEM fellowships, $300,000 for a computational and data science scholarship program, $195,544 for NSF-funded peatland methane research, and $270,000 for a NSF grant studying nanoparticle growth. Several labs, offices, and other campus facilities also received naming gifts.

20. Under the direction of Cassandra
Medvedeff, Jason Keller and Warren de
Bruyn, Chapman has been awarded a NSF
grant of $195,544 to explore the
possibility that methylotrophic substrates
serve as an important source of CH4 in
northern peatland ecosystems.
21. Atmospheric Data Solutions, Inc.
pledged $100,000 to establish the
Atmospheric Data Solutions
Assistantship in Computation and Data
Science which supports students
enrolled in the Computational and Data
Science (CADS) who are working as a part
of Prof. Hesham El-Askary's global and
environmental change research team.
22. Christopher Kim has been awarded a 3-
year NSF grant of $270,000 to study the
effects of aggregation-based nanoparticle
growth on both the extent and
mechanisms of metal uptake and
retention. Undergraduate students from
Schmid College, four local community
colleges, and Orange and Troy High
Schools will be involved in experiments
and research activities.
Chris Kim received a $100,000 gift to
create the Environmental Geochemistry
