A lawsuit has been filed against Behavior Services of the Rockies for violating the Americans with Disabilities Act by failing to provide a sign language interpreter for meetings with Kirstin Kurlander, the deaf mother of Jax Kurlander, a 4-year-old boy receiving autism services. When Kirstin requested an interpreter for a meeting to discuss Jax's assessment plan, BSOTR refused and told the family they would need to find services elsewhere. The lawsuit alleges that BSOTR's actions discriminated against Kirstin and requests that the court order BSOTR to provide interpreters and make up for the lapse in services to Jax.
