Setting Up Crestron AirMedia in the classroom:
The purpose of this sheet is to explain what Crestron Airmedia is and to instruct the reader how
to use it.
AirMedia is a wireless display port that connects to your computer’s display via the internet.
This is currently the only way instructors will be allowed to display PowerPoints, videos,
slideshows etc., from their own personal devices.
For best results in media playing, do not use AirMedia. Instead, use the computer set up in the
classroom. Also, to avoid any difficulties with AirMedia, instructors are advised to put all their
files on an accessible flash drive that can be put directly in the classroom computers to be used
for presentation purposes. Please plan accordingly with the IT staff with any issues/ questions or
concerns.
What to do with a Crestron?1
● Great for class presentations, either by the instructor or from a student.
● Bring your own electronic device to class, whether it be a PC, a Mac, smartphone, tablet,
etc, and connect it to the Crestron in order to present, collaborate, and share content
wirelessly through the projector.
○ Connecting a laptop will display a whole desktop, whereas connecting a
smartphone won’t display anything until specific content is selected such as a
PDF document, photos in the phone’s gallery, etc.
Steps for Using a Crestron for a PC or Mac
1. Make sure the projector and computer is on and running.
2. Change the setting on the switch box to PC2 by pressing both buttons until the bottom
row of lights is lit up.
3. The Crestron screen should now be displayed on the projector. Type the IP address that is
on the top of the projector screen into the search engine of the device you wish to
connect.
4. This will then bring you to a page that looks like this:
1
Instructions made by the IT staff of Green Mountain College, edited by MMLA IT Staff
Page 12 Last Updated: 6/19/2015
Click Download for the type of device you are working with.
5. Once it is downloaded, click run.
6. Then a display window should pop up that looks like this:
You can then enter the code that appears at the top of the projector screen and hit connect.
7. Your whole desktop should then be displayed on the projector and you can choose to
share whatever you like.
Steps for Using a Crestron for a smartphone or tablet
1. On your device download the free AirMedia App
2. Follow steps 1 and 2 for Using a Crestron for a PC or Mac
3. Open up the AirMedia App and enter in the IP Address that appears on the top of the
projector screen.
Also enter the login code and hit connect.
Page 13 Last Updated: 6/19/2015
-4. Once you are connected your device should display a screen similar to this:
What you choose is dependent on what you want to share. For example if it is a picture,
the App will then bring up all the photo files in your phone:
Nothing will be displayed through the projector until you select a specific file.
5. Once a file is selected you can then choose from the projection options:
From there, whatever content you wish to share should be displayed on the projector.

  • 12. Page 11 Last Updated: 6/19/2015 Setting Up Crestron AirMedia in the classroom: The purpose of this sheet is to explain what Crestron Airmedia is and to instruct the reader how to use it. AirMedia is a wireless display port that connects to your computer’s display via the internet. This is currently the only way instructors will be allowed to display PowerPoints, videos, slideshows etc., from their own personal devices. For best results in media playing, do not use AirMedia. Instead, use the computer set up in the classroom. Also, to avoid any difficulties with AirMedia, instructors are advised to put all their files on an accessible flash drive that can be put directly in the classroom computers to be used for presentation purposes. Please plan accordingly with the IT staff with any issues/ questions or concerns. What to do with a Crestron?1 ● Great for class presentations, either by the instructor or from a student. ● Bring your own electronic device to class, whether it be a PC, a Mac, smartphone, tablet, etc, and connect it to the Crestron in order to present, collaborate, and share content wirelessly through the projector. ○ Connecting a laptop will display a whole desktop, whereas connecting a smartphone won’t display anything until specific content is selected such as a PDF document, photos in the phone’s gallery, etc. Steps for Using a Crestron for a PC or Mac 1. Make sure the projector and computer is on and running. 2. Change the setting on the switch box to PC2 by pressing both buttons until the bottom row of lights is lit up. 3. The Crestron screen should now be displayed on the projector. Type the IP address that is on the top of the projector screen into the search engine of the device you wish to connect. 4. This will then bring you to a page that looks like this: 1 Instructions made by the IT staff of Green Mountain College, edited by MMLA IT Staff
