WICHITA, Kan., May 30, 2015 – Riverfest, Kansas’ largest community event, hosts its highly
anticipated Gospelfest event Monday, featuring contemporary Gospel star and reality television
actress, Erica Campbell. Gospelfest brings together local choirs and national talent for an evening of
inspiring celebration.
In addition to her red-hot solo career, which this year garnered her a Grammy award for Gospel
Album of the Year, Campbell is one half of acclaimed Gospel duo Mary Mary. The group has
received 17 Stellar Awards, including 4 Group/Duo of the Year Awards. Mary Mary gained fame in
2000 following the release of their crossover hit single, “Shackles,” pioneering the emergence of
urban contemporary gospel music.
Campbell’s two solo albums have both reached number 1 on the Billboard Gospel Charts, with
popular tracks “I Luh God,” “Help” and “A Little More Jesus.” She is also known for her
celebrated WE tv reality show Mary Mary.
Gospelfest, which begins at 5:15 p.m. on Riverfest’s Kennedy Plaza stage, is an evening of
celebration showcasing local musicians and choirs, capped off by the national headliner.
“This is an exciting Gospelfest lineup,” said Mary Beth Jarvis, president and CEO of Wichita
Festivals, Inc. “We’re showcasing exceptional talent – not only Ms. Campbell but also every local
performer gracing our stage – and it’s all included with your Riverfest button.”
“Gospelfest has historically been one of Riverfest’s most cherished nights,” said Cameo Profit,
music director for St. Mark Cathedral Church of God In Christ, who served on the Gospelfest
planning committee and assembled the Mass Choir for Gospelfest 2015. We look forward to
inspiring the whole community at this great event.”
This year’s local performers include The Dennis Family; Jay Thurston; Dynamic Revelators; TRU;
Cameo Profit and 1 Way; Jermane and Friends; Dana Hemphill and a Mass Choir composed of
