Lviv aims to be an open, eco-friendly city that preserves its 750-year European heritage while also being modern and attractive to investors. Its strategic location and beautiful landscape have contributed to its development over centuries under different ruling countries. Lviv is now Ukraine's seventh largest city with a population of 800,000, including a large Ukrainian majority as well as Russian, Polish and other minorities. It is known for its unique architectural blend of styles, over 50 annual festivals, and was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998.
