This document provides an executive summary and overview of a schematic feasibility study for transforming the WCCA facility in Worcester, MA into an "iSMARTT Center". The study assessed renovating the existing building to accommodate WCCA's vision of expanding opportunities for civic participation, arts, and workforce training. It was found that the building requires significant upgrades to mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems beyond WCCA's needs. The feasibility of the project depends on securing funding for building-wide upgrades and WCCA's space individually. The proposed iSMARTT Center would serve as a community media center and hub for discourse, education, and arts in downtown Worcester.

pretextdiss Dissertation 2003 VARNER TERI Performing Black Consciousness Thro...Teri L. Varner, Ph.D.
This dissertation examines reasons why African American women in Detroit choose natural hairstyles like afros, dreadlocks, and sisterlocks. The author interviewed 35 African American women with natural hairstyles. She found they most often cited internal factors like personal preference and cultural pride, rather than external factors like trends. The study suggests natural hairstyles can communicate black consciousness but not consistently, as external features alone don't define cultural identity. The dissertation analyzes hair's role in identity performance and representation through history, media, music and theater to provide context for understanding respondents' views.
This dissertation examines whether natural hairstyles signify a specific cultural identity for African American women. It studies reasons black women in Detroit choose natural hairstyles like afros, locks, and sisterlocks. Interviews with 35 black women found they mostly chose natural styles due to personal preference and cultural consciousness rather than external factors. While natural hairstyles are sometimes seen as symbols of black identity, the study found hairstyle alone does not consistently communicate black consciousness.
The document outlines a 3 year implementation plan for ApproveIt, an application that allows users to approve payments directly from their phones. The plan has 4 phases: 1) begin development and strengthen sales, 2) fully integrate the app into Apple and Samsung Pay, 3) continue improving features and look to expand, 4) sell the app to Apple and Samsung. It also discusses the app's financials, risks around regulations, bank willingness, and marketing, and solutions to address each risk.

BronxNet’s 12 YEAR PLAN AND
THE SOUTH BRONX
NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN
As the first step in implementing BronxNet’s 12 year plan, this pro-
posal addresses the needs and culture of a specific area of the Bronx.
Broadly known as the South Bronx, also known as Bronx Community
Planning Boards 1, 2, 3, & 4, the immediate location is known as Mel-
rose & Morrisania.
The Park and the bend at East 161 Street and Elton Avenue has long
been identified as a good location for a Bronx Civic Center.
This detail map shows the networks of Community, Culture and Com-
merce in the immediate vicinity of the proposed development.
BRONXNET’S SERVICE DISTRICTS
In a User Needs Analysis performed by TeleDimensions Inc. it
was determined that having only one location in the North-
West Bronx impaired BronxNet’s ability to fulfill its mandate
of providing Public Access to training, production capability,
and channel distribution to the entire Borough.
The analysis indicated a need for at least two other BronxNet
locations, one in the South Bronx and one in the East Bronx.
The color overlays on this map show the resulting“service
districts”for each BronxNet location.
BRONX COMMUNITY, CULTURAL & COM-
MERCIAL DEVELOPMENT ENGINES
This map shows 106 Knowledge Industry,
Creative Economy, and Human Services In-
stitutions in the Bronx, each of which could,
if provided with appropriate information
and communications technology resources,
provide Public Access to multi-media capa-
bilities, and to distribution over BronxNet’s
channels. This will allow them to play en-
hanced roles as engines of Community,
Cultural & Commercial Development at local,
regional and national scales.
BRONXNET’S 12 YEAR PLAN
ENVISIONS PARTNERING

OTHER DEVELOPMENT ENGINES
- Providing technical assistance
- Assisting in developing in-house

PERMACULTURE URBAN DESIGN
Eco Systems Design, Inc. is based in Basalt, Colorado.
In a marriage of Permaculture and Architecture, we apply principles of perennial polyculture, edible land-
scapes and forest gardening, to indoor and outdoor environments, expanding the range of growing zones for
a given bio region. Our work is based on the discoveries made by the Central Rocky Mountain Permaculture
Institute in Basalt over the last 25 years, making possible year-round food crops through Rocky Mountain win-
ters, up to tropical zones, including bananas, papayas, mangoes, passion fruit, figs and many other tropical
and Mediterranean food perennials, in a totally solar heated and cooled indoor environment.
Our latest work includes the Elkstone Greenhouse and Forest Garden in Steamboat Springs, CO, where the
banana, fig, pineapple, mango and papaya trees are fruiting in the same indoor space as tomato, cucumber,
melon and salad greens, while the snow rages outside. Our greenhouse installations employ simple but pre-
cise solar harvesting and storage methods, effectively allowing the widest possible array of food plants to be
grown in cold climate.
WE SPECIALIZE IN:
- Greenhouse Design and Management Training
- Edible Agroforestry and Permaculture Design
- Solar Building Design
- Integrated Pest Management and Natural Weed Controls
- Permaculture Management Training through the Central Rocky Mountain
