This document contains instructions for an activity involving units 3 and 4, with sections on use of English/grammar and writing. For the first section, the student is asked to look up phrasal verbs related to education and write definitions and example sentences. 1. Abbreviations vs acronyms. Abbreviations are shorter spellings of words and expressions
we use every day (e.g. Dr.). Acronyms are made up of the word’s initials (e. g. NASA –
National Aeronautics and Space Administration). There are many acronyms and
abbreviations used in the field of English teaching and learning. Find the following ones and

4. People looking for a job have to prepare their own CV. The CV has some very special features that
will help to give a more positive image. The letter of the CV should have size 12, the font of the
letter in Times New Roman and the line spacing should be 1.5.
The personal data will appear in the content of the CV; Name, address and contact telephone
number. The academic training received, which should included a computerized management level
and the languages spoken. Work experience ordered chronologically will also be included
mentioned. We can also include add the recommendation letter of other works.
Regarding the formal aspect of being on a blank sheet (no sé lo que quieres decir) of paper and
include have a photograph. The photograph must be formal, showing only the face, no photograph
works.
Making a correct and useful CV will help make the work yours.
2. Read the following text and write a short paragraph (60-80 words) giving your opinion
about public educational institutions (1 mark)
Educational institutions believe that they have a very important role in society. All people have to
respect and help its proper functioning. The authorities must promote laws that help its proper
functioning. The economic financing is fundamental for its good development. The more money,
the more human and material resources that will help educational institutions.The right to have
private educational institutions has to be respected but in my opinion the state will help public
institutions more than private ones.
Educational institution
An educational institution is a place where people of different ages gain an education. Examples
of some institutions are preschools, primary schools, secondary schools, and further and higher
education. They provide a large variety of learning environments and learning spaces. The
American Educational System typically divides learning facilities by an age grade system. The
student is designated to a grade level based on their age, and advances one grade each year. This
determines what educational institution would be an appropriate setting for the individual. The
institution can be public, private or unconventional.
