Sir William Burrell collected medieval sculptures, stained glass, and tapestries from 1911 to 1957 that formed the Burrell Collection in Glasgow. He purchased pieces from dealers across Europe and documented his acquisitions in purchase books. Burrell also displayed parts of his collection at his home, Hutton Castle in Berwick-upon-Tweed, reconstructing rooms there with his medieval objects. The document highlights Burrell's collecting over decades and his display of selections of the collection at Hutton Castle.

Antiques Diva & Co. Buying Services
When You Can’t Travel Abroad to Stock Your Store, Let Us Buy For You
While we offer buying tours for the trade, we also offer buying services. Most of our trade clients really WANT to travel and buy abroad, but it’s difficult finding the time to go abroad when you run a successful business. So we’re your man on the ground in Europe. You and I both know that the fact is you can scout webpages and search out European antiques all by yourself all over the web… the internet has made the world really small that way. So why would you hire The Antiques Diva & Co to scout in Europe to source goods for your store when you could skip the middle man and shop yourself online? The problem with buying online is that you don’t always know what you’re buying or if it looks as good in person as it does in the photos. You likely do not have relationships with the dealers or someone to vet the inventory on your behalf before you pay a bundle to get it carted half way around the world. You don’t know who you should trust or shouldn’t. When buying online you just click “add to cart” – no negotiating takes place, so you never really know if you’re getting the best price or if you could have gotten a better price. And if you want to buy from multiple stores, shipping becomes a disaster because you’re paying more to ship a few things individually than to bulk everything from various sources when shipping them together in one lot would have cost a whole lot less. And MOST importantly… and here’s the kicker… the best sources in Europe aren’t online.
Most wholesale warehouses in Europe and the UK don’t sell on line, they provide an exclusive service to their trade clients by keeping their prices & inventory off the web for the discrete few who are lucky enough to gain entry into their world.
Here's an early look at our 2015 Sales Flyer. Save up to 50% Off on over 250 artifacts, coins and jewelry from a variety of cultures, including Asian, Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Precolumbian, Persian and much more.
All items are guaranteed authentic. Call 1(800)426-2007 to order.

The Feast of the Annunciation is one of the earliest Christian feasts, and was already being celebrated in the fourth century. There is a painting of the Annunciation in the catacomb of Priscilla in Rome dating from the second century. Arguably, no subject has been more profoundly felt and more beautifully handled by the old painters, nor more vilely mishandled by the moderns than the Annunciation, of all the scenes in the life of Mary.
Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary is the Christian celebration of the announcement by the angel Gabriel to Virgin Mary that she would conceive and become the mother of Jesus the Son of God. The Annunciation has been a key topic in Christian art in general, as well as in Roman Catholic Marian art, particularly during the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
