King Josiah held a remarkable Passover in Jerusalem, the likes of which had not been seen since Samuel, with significant participation from the Levites and offerings provided for the sacrifices. Despite prophetic warnings, Josiah engaged in battle against Pharaoh Necho of Egypt, resulting in his death, which brought mourning to the people of Judah and the prophetic lament of Jeremiah. Following Josiah's reign, subsequent rulers erred, leading to the eventual conquest of Judah and exile by Nebuchadnezzar, with the rebuilding of the temple only resuming under King Darius of Persia.
