the Department of Education issued the
Adoption on the Basic Education Learning
Continuity Plan for School Year 2020-2021
considering the COVID-19 Pandemic.
3. DepEd Order No. 31 s. 2020
To supplement the Basic Education Learning
Continuity Plan, the DepEd issues the Interim
Guidelines for Assessment and Grading in the Light
of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan .
This is to provide guidance on the assessment of
student learning and on the grading scheme to be
adopted this school year.
4. Desired Outcomes of the Policy
•To ensure that all learners are fairly assessed and
graded in the continuation of education during
this health crisis; and
•To emphasize that learning standards shall be
attained , with the provision of reasonable
leniency and consideration for possible difficulties
met by the learner.
5. Implementation
• All public elementary and secondary schools shall
carry out the assessment policy for SY 2020-2021
•DO 8 s. 2015 is still in effect, however, provisions
inconsistent with these new guidelines are suspended
this school year.
• Private schools, technical and vocational institutions,
and higher education, institutions, including state
and local universities and colleges offering K to 12
program are encouraged to implement. They are
permitted to modify these policy guidelines.
